Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a marvelous experience for all ages. The pedestrian walkway starts on Adams Street, which is just a 5 minute walk north, (if that), from the Jay Street/Borough Hall subway station. We were there on a weekend morning, and the area in my opinion, is 100% safe. The grade is easy, and one can go at a leisurely pace.

There are plenty of benches along the walkway to rest, to just sit and enjoy spectacular views. This is a great attraction to enjoy while in NY.

I was in NYC for the first time and as far as im concerned, a walk across this iconic bridge was a must do. I wasnt disappointed. It is best walking from the Brooklyn side so you get the great panorama of manhattan getting ever bigger before it swallows you whole.

I got the idea to walk across the bridge from this forum. We had so much fun! It was midnight and the bridge was very well patrolled by police on bikes. There were Japanese schoolgirls, Australians and a group of German students. The view was lovely. Brooklyn was very quiet but looked safe. If you begin on the Brooklyn side, you'll end up at City Hall in Manhattan.(Take the A or C train to High and walk on Cadman Plaza W, under the overpass. Look to your left and you'll see a stairway going up to the walkway.) I'll do it again sometime in the day so I can read the signs along the way.
