I'm keeping this relatively short because there's no need to mince words over a place like this. Being a native Texan and avid BBQ'er before moving to NYC, Fette Sau is hands down the best BBQ restaurant in the metroplex. In fact it's in my top 3 BBQ joints all time. Some people complain about the atmosphere, but it has a great whiskey selection, serves beer in gallon jugs, has pictures of meat on the wall, and in general it feels like many bbq places I frequented back home. For taking a southern BBQ restaurant feel and adding a great whiskey/beer collection, I give this place credit.
The lines are long, but you can drink while you are in them, so bring friends or a date who loves food and you will be just fine. Plus standing in line to eat at a great place in NYC is almost par for the course. After standing in line for that hour, if you don't order the baked beans or the pulled pork, you have done yourself a disservice.
