Excellent , modern motel, quietly situated just outside the town on the 180 East. Good furnishings, wide carpeted corridors and well-equipped bedrooms. Pleasant breakfast area with free, good quality continental breakfast from 6.30 am. Guest laundry at nominal cost, free internet access in bedrooms and in the small business centre. Apart from the elevator breaking down( but quickly repaired), this was a pleasant and faultless 2-night stay.

My husband and I stayed here for five nights and although I had misgivings, I soon realized that this Holiday Inn Express was just fine (unlike a few of the others I have stayed in).

Its strengths are that it has an incredibly efficient staff who serve their customers well. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. We were on the second floor, the inn has three, and were pleasantly surprised to see a sitting area, which overlooks the lobby, with a faux fireplace, comfortable seating, and a collection of paperbacks. Initially, I wanted to change my room because we were across from the elevator; however, I never heard a sound. All-in-all, I give this inn high marks.

Since we came to Silver City to hike the Gila, we would have preferred to stay in cabins closer to the wilderness area. But all the cabins were booked, so we had to stay in the city. That being said, after driving by all the other chain Silver City motels, the Holiday Inn Express is the only place that I would stay. It is set off the main road, just a bit, and is not in an area that I would find somewhat sketchy. Silver City has a problem with meth users....behind a few of the motels lies an area that isn't so hot.

Good Location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Had only one problem. Was given room #121 on the first floor right next to the laundry room. Lots of banging in walls from pipes all day and late into the evening. Otherwise would recommend this hotel.

Holiday Inn Express is the best in Silver City, but you should realize that its not really in town at all, but on the highway well east of town center. Not much out there besides the Walmart.
Diane's is a great spot to eat downtown.
