I can't say enough about the Gustavus Inn - it was so wonderful! It's very laid back, which we loved, has so much character, and unlike many other B&B's felt that every corner of the building was loved and cared for.
And what more can I say about the food? It was AMAZING. Most fresh from the garden, amazing fish. I about fell off my chair when I had the Lesh's homemade rhubarb crisp. I could not stop eating and it all felt so good and natural. I so often have problems with my stomach and after our time at the Inn, I'm convinced I need to start eating only organic food.
The rooms are simple but more than adequate. The beds were okay, not the best, and our bathroom felt like it needed updating, but that is my only small criticism of my experience.
There is a real community feel with guests sharing tables in the dining room I liked that. When we weren't pigging out, we spent our time riding bikes the Inn provided and playing horseshoes outside on the beautiful lawn.
In full disclosure, the weather was PERFECT during our stay, but even in off weather, it would be plenty relaxing to hang out in the inn. There are a lot of places just to curl up with a book, play games or do a puzzle.
The price at first seemed expensive (what in Alaska isn't?) but it was right when you considered you are eating three, really good meals a day.
