The canyon is amazing. I was very pleased that the two of us did it on our own and didn't get a tour guide. The guided tours take you to the Upper Canyon, we went to the Lower Canyon. It is much less crowded and we were able to go at our own pace. There is a $6.00 per person fee for the Navajo Nation and I'm pretty sure we got scammed by a guy charging an additional $20/person at the entrance. He claimed it was an entrance fee, but we wrote the check to "Ken's Tours". If I had it to do over I would have just paid the $6. Still, the experience was incredible and I would recommend it to anyone.

A tour from local shops can be booked to see the Antelope Slot Canyon, with Navaho guides as it is on Navaho lands, via Jeep. It’s a very narrow slit in sandstone cliffs with spectacular spiralling walls bored out by flash floods, and where part of the film, Broken Arrow was filmed with John Travolta and Christian Slater, but it can be quite dusty if the wind is blowing. It has also been used for TV advertisements.

We visited Page in November and at the spur of the moment decided to check for things to do in the area and came across the Antelope Canyon on tripadvisor.
We decided to go with 'Chief Tsosie', based on the reviews. [--] Since we like to take our time taking pictures we picked the 'photographic' tour of the canyon. That will set you back $35 per person, but is sooooo worth it. If you are into photography you will really appreciate the extra time you get to take pictures. Our guide Marvin was awesome. He points out cool places to photograph and will give you some advice on lighting etc. if you need it. Just remember to bring a tripod! We didn't and had to improvise to keep the camera still. You will get the best photographs in the world.
Marvin also made sure to alert other people that were exploring the canyon when they should wait for a sec so they wouldn' be in the pictures :) November was a great time to visit: we had the canyon to ourselves 75% of the time.

“Antelope Slot Canyon : Chief Tsosie Tour”

My wife and I arrived in Page on Wednesday (10/03/97) in the afternoon, Chief Tsosie had a later tour which was scheduled for
5:00 PM but was rescheduled to 4:30 due to the sunlight. The Navajo guide was extremenly knowledgeable as he was
actually from Page (although well travelled) The slot canyon
was extremely beautiful and it was realxing as there was only
one other couple besides us. Therefore the five us had the canyon all to ourselves. I was amazed at the shapes and colors
of the canyons. We met at the Chief's store in Page and the guide drove us to the Antelope Slot Canyon. Highly recommended.

I read the negative reviews and think the problem is the busy crowds during the busy season. We went on October 17th when the weather was spectacular but the crowds were light. We used antelopecanyon.com tours and our guide, Irene, was outstanding. She allowed time for each person to take as many photos as we wanted AND she even offered to take pictures for all on our group (using our cameras) since she knew where to stand and what settings to use. After we walked through with her, she gave us ample time to walk back through on our own for even more views and photos.

I think the key is to use the tours in town and have them drive you out.. It cost exactly the same as if you drive out to the site and have a guide assigned to you there.

What you will see here is spectacular and worth the long tedious drive (from ANYWHERE) to Page.

By the way, there is nothing else to do in Page so one night is enough!!!!
