My hubby & I wanted to use our RV for the first time up in the northwoods of MN. We wanted to be sure to stay somewhere with facilities just incase something went wrong with our camper. We also had to stay somewhere that was pet friendly.
After doing some quick research, I discovered this campground/resort.
The gunlfint pines resort has a great website. We found everything was just as presented on their site.
What gorgeous country up in this "neck of the woods"!.
Gunflint Pines Resort is on gunflint lake. Canada is just across the lake and the boundry waters are very close.
Most of the campsites are very private - literally in the woods and most are also on the lake. The facilities there include a general store that has pretty much everything and anything you can need including internet access (cell phones do not work up there). You do not have to bring food as the store has a huge selection of things to prepare or you can even eat at the snack bar. There are also many supplies you may need, clothing and gifts. There is a shower/bath house and laundry facilities also on the property.
The owners Sheri and Bob are wonderful. We had a little flood in our camper and they helped us out. They are also very informative about the area offered suggestions of things to do.
The resort is truly pet friendly - which is wonderful for us! Everyone had to keep their dogs on leashes which makes things worry free. Their dogs - sota and shadow are great. Obviously this is their home so they are not on the leash but they are so well behaved and friendly so not an issue. Sota visits the campsites - she is a true welcoming committee and was very appreciated by our malamute as the two became good friends. They spent a good portion of the day together just hanging out at our campsite!
About 1/2 mile down the road is the gunflnt lodge - there is a full restuarant and bar there - so if you want to "go out" you don't have too far to walk. We didn't try the food but we did have a few drinks - the bartendar sure had the tequilla sunrises down pat!
We definately plan to go back to this resort. They are open all year round and their cabins looked wonderful. We hope to go up for a little winter R&R up at this gem in the northwoods!
