“Beware of anything owned by the REAGAN'S”

Ramada Inn Gatlinburg

This place is horrible. We read the reviews thinking that maybe most posters were used to upscale hotels and were just picking at this place. We were WRONG! The pictures on the brochure and website must be old. This place is a DUMP! The outdoor pool is all spotted on the bottom. Looks like algea, but not sure what it is. We felt the water and our hands felt oily afterwards. We decided to give the indoor pool a try since we have 2 kids and they are only on vacation to swim. I tried to read a book while my husband and kids swam, but the indoor pool inclosure was leaking so badly, that was impossible to do. This is supposed to be the NEWER area of the hotel. The water was freezing. We kept smelling this odd odor. When we got back to the room our swimsuits and towels smelled like smelly feet. No kidding! NASTY! The next day after the swimsuits had dried, the smell was even worse. The rooms were so dirty that our feet were completely black like we had been walking on blacktop all day long. After dinner we walked back through the indoor pool area. Thank goodness noone wanted to swim because there were no working lights in pool. Very dark. Beds were clean and comfortable, only positive thing here. The breakfast they offered was a joke. You have to walk next door to this little shack and they ungraciously serve you. You have to ask for either biscuit and gravy or a danish. They brought 4 danishes to the table still in their wrapper. You don't get to choose what flavor of danish you want, hope you like what they serve you! They have heated it in the wrapper in the microwave and they aren't taking it back. It was like intruding in someones restaurant. Don't know if they are part of this hotel or not, but they don't really want you there. Don't worry, we won't be back! Needless to say, we checked out the next day. As I was going to get the cart for our luggage, I passed 2 maintenance men in the hall using the carts to carry gross, rusty air conditioners on them. So we had to make a couple of trips to the car. No big deal though. We were just happy to get OUT! We are not spoiled, we normally stay in Ramadas, Days Inn, etc. This place is HORRIBLE. Take these reviews seriously.

“The negative reviews were really true!!!!”

Ignore the positive reviews about this hotel on this website and follow the negative ones. The pictures on the internet do not reflect the actual appearance of the hotel. The second I approached the hotel I knew I was going to be disappointed. I walked in and immediately asked to cancel my reservation but there is a 72 hour cancellation policy. I'm sure they got tired of people canceling on the spot so they probably use this rule to avoid losing money.

I got this hotel because of its inside corridor for safety reasons. This is the weirdest inside corridor I have ever seen. In other hotels you walk pass the lobby and towards your room. In this one, you go to the lobby to check in, and then you go outside again and walk to the very end of the property to a building with inside corridors which were fiiiiiiilthy!!!!!! The walls were covered in dust, the elevator was crappy and the carpets desperately needed cleaning. In this building on the first floor there was large room which could not be entered. I guess it was the indoor pool room.

Compared to the corridor the room was better but still not too comfortable. It had that, 'used and abused' feeling. The furniture needed changing, especially the couches. But the housekeeping did the best they could with the basic cleaning.

The most surprising thing about this dump was the free continental breakfast they give you. This is beyond crazy. Most sensible hotels have an area for guess to sit and have a small selection to start your day. This one gives you this little ticket you take to this itty-bitty restaurant nearby where you can only chose between a gravy biscuit or danish and a cup of juice.

I regret not listening to the reviews before I went. Don't make the same mistake. This hotel is Gatlinburg’s city dump.

“Not the worst ever, but you can certainly do better.”

Ramada Inn Gatlinburg

I was traveling with my mother and both of my children (ages 5 & 7) to my sister's wedding. At the last minute we decided to go one day earlier and stay in Gatlinburg. I wanted to be close to everything because my mother uses a cane and cannot walk a lot.

The front desk clerk who checked us in was very friendly and as helpful as possible. I really don't have any complaints about that.

As others have stated, the hotel desperately needs remodeled. I new it was not going to be a "4 star hotel" going in, but I didn't expect
it to be quite as bad as it was. The indoor pool area is very dark and was quite dirty. The only positive I can say about the room/
pool area was the beds were comfortable, which I did not expect.

Now comes the worst part. We arrived at the hotel around 7:00pm on Thursday night. After a 7 hour drive the kids were dying to go swim.
I dropped the kids and my mom off at the pool (they were the only ones there) and headed down the street to get us dinner. I got our dinner and headed back to the pool expecting a quiet relaxing meal by the pool.

When I opened the door I was obviously quite shocked to see probably 70-80 middle school kids running, jumping and screaming in the pool. My poor mom looked like she was about to have a stroke and my kids were sitting on the side of the pool. Obviously with this many kids in one very small pool it was not what I would call safe for a 5 and 7 year old. We did manage to stick it out and eat our dinner, but it was definitely not an experience I wish to repeat.

I did go to the front desk and ask to leave and get a refund, but of course that was not possible. Lukily for us the group had to be in their rooms by 10:00pm, so we went back to the pool after that for a while. According to one of the adults with the group there were 125 middle school kids staying in the hotel. Thankfully we were only there one night because they were not leaving until Sunday.

I will definitely not return to this Ramada and honestly I'm not sure
I will return to Gatlinburg. Unfortunately it seems everytime I go it
gets a little dirtier and now with the pushy people trying to get you
to come to their booths for "free tickets" I think I'll spend my vacations somewhere else. It's really a shame too because the area is so beautiful.
