“Good location, motel needs TLC”

Days Inn & Suites Gatlinburg

We stayed at this motel Sept. 6 and 7. I wish we had checked these website reviews ahead of time. We were "walk-ins" , choosing the motel because of its location. The location is very good, right at the edge of the national park and at the same time easy walking to town shops and restaurants. The motel was standard, but not well-maintained, and had a generally soiled look about it, both inside the rooms and along the outside of the building. The only area that seemed to be kept up was the lobby area. Our room was in a very dingy corner -- when we asked to change, this was not allowed. The walls and carpet were stained, there were no chairs (unless you brought in the very grubby resin chair off the balcony), no night table or lamp on one side of the bed, and the air conditioner was very loud when it came on (ours did work). Also, all the appliances in the room were plugged into an alligator extension on one outlet, probably a fire violation. I think our maid was probably better than most, as we did not have the problems with undone cleaning other guests complained of -- the things that were substandard were long-term maintenance things, not that day's cleaning. I would not say this motel was disgusting, but it did appear to be managed with low standards and little attention to detail.

“Stay Somewhere Else”

Days Inn & Suites Gatlinburg

I wish I had read this site before I booked my room. The hotel was uninhabitable! The room was filthy, the carpets were stained, the air conditioning unit was broken and written on with marker, the bathroom was disgusting, the toilet was dirty, the tub was stained and leaking, the sink was stained and there were hairs on the floors.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The manager was impossible to deal with. I cancelled my reservation and went somewhere else. The manager insisted that I pay for the first night of my reservation, regardless of the condition of the room. It took 4 days to get my money back. The hassel nearly ruined my trip.
Save yourself and stay somewhere else!!! Anywhere else in town would be better than here!

We got to Gatlinburg around 7pm,tired from a long days work and drive, hungry as well. We like to eat at Calhouns, and this hotel was close. I went inside, inquired as to the rates which was 78.00 plus tax. It looked nice, outside is pretty, lobby didnt show anything I would be worried about. Paid money, went to park, dropped off luggage in room-first mistake was not looking at room real good. Went to eat and sightsee and got back to room around 1030-1100pm. NO deadbolt, NO air that you could feel unless you were sitting right on top of the unit-which by the way had in large permanent marker "FIX ME", and no knob to adjust the air anyway as we soon found out. Bathroom was tiny, with silverfish and waterbugs/roaches. No outlet covers on receptacles or lightswitches. Wallpaper peeling off wall behind bed(mold?), sheets torn, with greasy shoe prints on them. Bed is nothing more than plywood and eggcrate if that. Finaaly called maintenence. Maintenance's reply is that the unit is working due to seeing the water gushing out of the back running down the sidewalk, and that the room is too big for the unit. Our reply is that this is not our problem, and we want either our money back or a different room. We also explained that the door had no deadbolt and we were told if he could find a part then he could maybe fix it tonight. He went to explain this to the front desk, who called us back to explain that he no longer had "a room like ours" anymore and that they have us another one. At this point it is getting near mindnight and we pack up, go downstairs and get new room. It wasnt much better, just had air and that is about it! but at that point we took it, slept as best as we could and left at first light. Rude desk clerk so I didnt even speak a word, just gave back keys and hope that I never have to stay there ever! I have sent Days Inn an email voicing my displeasure adn probably the Chamber of Commerce, should also contact the Fire Marshall with all the code violations as well.

“DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!”

Days Inn & Suites Gatlinburg

My family and I (7 adults in 3 rooms) recently stay two nights at your location in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The following is a list of all the repairs and hazards we noticed. Many of these items were safety hazards (*) or made us not feel valued, comfortable or simply ordinary things were not in working order.
•The bathtubs were slippery, had no mat or had no railing to hold onto*
•We had no washcloths and had to ask for them and still did not receive the necessary amount. The second day we again had to ask for washcloths
•There were spiders and ants
•The wallpaper was cracked
•The ceiling was cracked
•There was not warm water, only freezing cold and scalding hot. One member of our family had burns on his body because the temperature of the water was erratic*
•The sidewalk had cracks and holes in it, causing people to trip*
•The ramp was slippery even when not wet and way too steep for wheelchair access *
•False advertising: online it notes there are 2 pools. There was only 1 in working order the first day we were there and when we returned from our outings the 2nd day that pool was emptied. Where was the jacuzzi? We never saw a fireplace either.
•The tub and sinks drained very slowly
•The TV volume was set at from 25-35, wouldn’t go lower or higher unless muted
•The coffee pot was slow
•The top security lock was broken*
•On the connecting door within a room, one side did not have the locks or door handle*
•Stained and untextured carpet
•Pillows smelled
•No chairs in the room
•Running toilet
•It appeared that someone had thrown up and it was not properly cleaned on the carpet
•No fitted sheets, bottom sheet not tucked in (bed not completely made)
•Curtains would not stay closed if the air was on*
•Rusty toilets
•Need a fan in the bathroom
•Bathtub needs to be caulked
•No welcome mat outside the room
•The second night keys to 2/3 of the rooms no longer worked
•Squeaky beds
•The AC sounded like it was going to blow up
•The women’s bathroom in the lobby had toilet paper on the floor, not in the dispenser
•The women’s bathroom in the lobby paper towel dispenser was broken
•The toilet was clogged in the men’s bathroom in the lobby

I booked with the hotel directly and then found this site with the bad reviews. I tried to cancel but was told I'd have to pay the first night's amount. We decided to go ahead with the reservation (and took a whole can of Lysol and Clorox wipes!!) but we were not expecting the place to be much. And it wasn't. The "underground" parking only held about 10 cars. The whole place needs maintainence, there were dirty towels left in the room when we checked in. The water in the shower could not be regulated (freezing one minute and scalding the next) and I wasn't about to sit down in the tub! The sheets were not fitted, so they slid around all night. The room we were in had a balcony right next to the sidewalk which was right on the street. The cars and loud trucks and motorcycles made it hard to sleep. I should have paid the extra money to stay in a nice place.
