First time here, usually stay at Jack Huff's across the street, but they were full. Clean and comfy, but a bit old fashioned and a little worn, but for $65 I will stay again. It is a short walk to the Christmas Village shopping area.

Did not have reservations and booked two nights. Front desk clerk very nice. Hotel room was okay, not great, but no where near as bad as some I have been in. A plus for the hotel is that it is off the beaten path and vehicle traffic is not too bad even though it is within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg. The rooms were clean and the cleaning service very helpful. Really no bad experience with the hotel.
My wife and I first stayed at the Mountain House Inn in November 2006. We found many coupons for different motels and were dissapointed until we pulled up in front on the Mountain House Inn. We were suprised at the location and rates for this one. I admit the bathrooms are a bit small and the shower head is low but we didn't think that was a major problem. Everything is within walking distance and the parking is free. We spent 3 nights there and wanted to stay more but they were booked up.
Last year we reserved ahead of time and spent the whole week there. We normally travel there in November for the Winterfest but this year we are going in September just for a change in scenery.
I know that some have really bashed this place but if it stays booked up all the time how can it be so bad!
We stayed here last year along with our 8 year old grand daughter. The place was in great need of a remodeling!! Our air conditioner was not working well - was loud and moldy smelling. The bathroom was very tiny, tub was nasty. The carpet really needed to be vacuumed. Location was OK. Grand daughter loved the pool. We did have one interesting moment. Woke up one morning and looked out the back door onto the balcony.
There was a little scared raccoon looking back at me, and we were on the second floor. We called the manager and eventually someone came and got him. Wouldn't stay here again - too outdated and not very clean.
Three women on a road trip. We had picked up a coupon book and called ahead. We wanted queen beds. We were given a room on the second floor far from the office. It had not been cleaned. The cooffe pot had moldy grounds in it and when we truned down the bed, the sheets had obviously been slept on. Since we had already called about the coffee pot, the desk personnel (after the guy had hung up on us; the woman was friendly and helpful), offered to move us next door. We moved but there was a single, hollow wood door that connected to the other room. We did not feel very secure. Also, when we checked in, with our coupon, we were told the original room was the only one available. We had planned to stay 3 nights but only stayed one. The property is in a good location, though. That is the only good thing I can say about it. Very disappointed, but I think it is a case of getting what you pay for. It was inexpensive and the place is definitely cheap!
