Since it's just across the Parkway from the Convention Center (which was very convenient for us) we have stayed here for the third & last time. Twice we were in the mid-level building, which is really run down. This season (2006); based on the comments of other reviewers, we stayed on the 3rd flloor (no smoking) of the tower at the rear of the property. The room rate was more, but it was better than the mid-level building. Not great, just better.
Our room had two beds, a small fridge, two sinks, one inside the bathroom and one out; as well as a private balcony with two cheap, flimsy, plastic chairs. That was the good part. For the bad; we found the room was some what shabby. The carpet was stained, wallpaper was falling down in the bathroom, the vent fan was very noisy, the bathrooom ceiling had toilet paper stuffed into holes to hide them and the doors had chipped paint & dents. But what upset me the most was the 40 watt light bulbs used in a $120/night room. To me, that is the height of penny pinching by the management.
If you're not picky & easily satisfied with mediocre accomadations, the rooms are OK. The house keeping staff is very good. Just leave them a tip on your first day and they will take good care of your room. And by the way, tasteless coffee & cheap supermarket doughnuts hardly make a Continental breakfast.
As one reviewer put it "A five star hotel it is not, but this is Gatlinburg not the French Riviera". Regardless; in a town where most of the hotels are shabby & over priced, there are much better values on the Parkway near this location. With a bit of shopping, we found that several of the major chain hotels may charge a few dollars more, but they include a full hot breakfast (which for two people will set you back $20 in this town) and a big plus, they are much cleaner & more pleasant for some one who enjoys a pampered outing.
