Stayed 2 nights and the location surely can't be beat. BUT you get what you pay for. It is very small, only moderately clean (sheets and blankets were stained - I hope those were stains), and we had someone else in our room when we came back from an outing - She had checked in and been given a key - our keys had been deactivated. Management worked it out but it was a pain. We won't stay here again.

We stayed two nights. The room was very small, but adequate. The drain stop in the bathroom was not installed, just lying in the tub. They didn't have any of the little "extras" like shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. in the room. The "continental breakfast" consists of plain bagels, one kind of mini muffin, and cereal. There is coffee and juice. The breakfast room is VERY tiny - has three tiny tables and it can get crowded. Parking was okay (and it IS free) - never managed to get the elevator. It seemed slow. We heard every single noise, door, shower, etc. The worst was the sanitation service emptied all of the big dumpsters around the hotel at 4:30 a.m....

But - the location really cannot be beat. We walked everywhere we went - and the staff was friendly. It could be a little cleaner and quieter, but the price is on the low-side for Gatlinburg. We decided we are willing to pay a little bit more next time to get the comforts we like.

“It's a Microtel, not the Ritz”

The fact is, this is a Microtel, a 2-star hotel. If you're expecting the Ritz or the amenities of a 3 or 4-star hotel, you'll be sorely disappointed. However, if you're looking for a great value right in the MIDDLE of Gatlinburg, this is a great choice.

This hotel is located right behind the Space Needle, just off the "strip" in Gatlinburg. Shopping, food, and everything else that's a part of Gatlinburg are completely within walking distance.

As with all Microtels, you get a bed, a good shower (great pressure and curved shower curtain rod), a TV with free cable, free wireless internet, free breakfast (usually a notch above a Continental) and free local and long distance calls. For the price we paid for our room, it was practically a steal!

The check-in desk workers were friendly and speedy in getting us checked in and checked out. The room was quiet, though the "view" was basically just looking back towards the city.

Lastly, there's no charge for parking, like some hotels will add on unexpectedly. For a decent room and parking included, we had no complaints and will be looking to return anytime we're in/around Gatlinburg.

    • Disliked — The bed was a bit harder than I would prefer, though it didn't give me a stiff neck like I've gotten elsewhere.

“Probably Wouldn't Stay Here Again”

Microtel Inn Gatlinburg

10 Apr 2007

My husband and I stayed 4 nights here and we probably would try somewhere else next time. We had a 2-room suite and it was nice to have the extra room, but the TV in the room with the sofa didn't get good reception. The bathrooms weren't very clean and the washcloths were badly stained. One of the light bulbs in the lamp by the desk in the room with the sofa was burnt out. My husband took it out and laid it on the desk and that's where it stayed the entire 4 days. The housekeeper never threw it away and replaced it.

My husband is a loud snorer so I appreciated having the couch to sleep on, but the second morning the housekeeper took the set of sheets (even though I had folded them and put them back in the closet with the blanket and pillows, really there was no reason for the housekeeper to be in the closet anyway!) and didn't replace them. Called housekeeping to have a set brought up, and the person didn't speak English and hung up on me! Called the front desk twice, the phone just rang and rang, no one answered. We went out for dinner and when we came back we stopped at the front desk and asked for sheets, and was given a set but we shouldn't have had that hassle in the first place. How can a hotel in the United States have a person answering the phone who doesn't even speak English?!

We did appreciate the curved shower rod, and the price was reasonable at $74 for Saturday night, then $64 for the other 3 nights but I think we would try another hotel next time.

The "continental breakfast" was very minimal. Only bagels, mini muffins and two kinds of cold cereal, plus orange juice and coffee. And only 3 small tables for 2 in the "breakfast room." Too small and not enough to choose from.
