Easy to find only about a block off the parkway, and friendly desk clerks on all shifts. Now, some of the lights in the room did not work, an electrical outlet was loose from the wall (glad i didn't have small children), carpet runner between room and bathroom was standing in closet, curtain pullers were standing in the corner of the room, trash in the bathroom was full at checkin, window leaked into the room when it rained, I ran out of hot water during my shower, and there was lots of hair on the bed sheets when we turned them down for the first time. All this for $202 for two nights. I will probably not stay here again. There are to many other places to stay. If you do stay here, avoid room #201.

We just returned from a weekend in Gatlinburg. We always like to stay within walking distance of the Parkway and we always take our 2 chihuahua's so we chose Microtel. It is just a 3 minute walk to all the activity in town. The hotel has no pool but the rooms have been just fine for our pet-loving family. And how much time do you actually stay in the room anyway? Not much more than for sleeping, in our case. We had a queen bed and it also had a little window seat which allowed you to look straight up the mountain-we could see the folks on the Skyride-really neat at night! The room was a clean, non-smoking unit with a tub/shower combo. They have 3 floors and a ground floor-which allows you to park under the building. There is an elevator, camera-monitored-so when you need service to a floor someone advises it's coming:) They do offer a bare-bones cont. breakfast-we never make use of it-prefer one of the many pancake houses in town OR you could skip breakfast altogether and plan on a hefty buffet lunch somewhere in Pigeon Forge maybe. Or how about the famous Applewood-at the entrance to the Park? You'll adore their delicious apple fritters. But I digress. For the money, and the fact they take our dogs-you can't go wrong with Microtel Inn. We paid $59.nite in June...add an additional $10. per pet, per night. Here's a ittle tip for you pet owners-to eliminate all possibilities of a fido-accident in the room-bring along a few $1. cheap shower curtains and lay them out on the floor-PRESTO! No possible little accidents:) We fold them up and use them everywhere we go. Microtel is basic, no-frills lodging-and they take your fur-babies. One word of caution:Front desk person explained they are very serious about non-guests parking in their hotel parking area-you will be given a parking pass-display it clearly on your rear view mirror for security to see...no "boot" surprises!

“Small but not that bad”

MY wife and I stayed here in september 2005. We didn't mind that the room was microscopic. We weren't in the room all that much anyway. But the parking was ok, although you might as well plan on hiking your bags up to your room...the elevator wasn't working while we were there. The staff at the front desk were indifferent about double charging my credit card a few weeks after we got home. Overall, I would say stay here only if you plan to be out of the room 99% of your trip. Otherwise find a better hotel.

We used to go over to Gatlinburg 2 times a month. We have stayed at a few of the hotels in town, and found this hotel to be one of the worst in town. The rooms are very small, usually the linens are dirty and the carpet is pitiful. The service is terrible and don't try to go from the parking garage to the lobby by the way of elevator. That elevator is very slow and one can walk many trips before they get to use the elevator. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone.

“Never again!”

Microtel Inn Gatlinburg

We just came back from Gatlinburg, TN. Loved Gatlinburg and the mountains! But the hotel.... when i made the reservation on line it looked great. A nice continental breakfast layout in the morning, nice rooms, pool.... WRONG! The breakfast was crammed into this tiny room with only 2 or 3 tables. When the food ran out, too bad. There wasn't any more. No pool! The rooms were tiny and dingy. They were in the process of replacing the hall carpet and there were signs all over the place warning you of the lose carpeting. Well, you were continually tripping over it. Why couldn't they nail it down?

On the last night of our stay the fire alarm went off at 2:30 am! So we jumped up and ran out of the building. No one but the guests were out front. No desk clerk directing traffic, no police, no firemen..... we stood around for 10 or 15 minutes wondering what was going on. I was about to call 911 on my cell phone. Shortly the police showed up and then about 5 minutes later here comes the fire truck. And the fire department was only a block away! No explanation was ever given and about half an hour later we were let back into the building.

When we got ready to leave in the morning the elevator wasn't working. So we had to drag our bags down 4 flights of stairs! Never again!

Management Response

I am writing to respond to this review of our hotel. During this time period our hotel was undergoing serious remodeling and repair. There were many things in disarray, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvinience to this guest. Our carpet has been completely replaced and our elevator has not had any problems as long as I've been working here. Our fire alarm system is working fine now, and we no longer have had any major issues.
Our continental breakfast is well-stocked, and once the food has run out, we promptly replace it. We do, however, only have the continental breakfast available from 6am-9am. We DO NOT have a pool. I have yet to find the website that advertised us as having a pool, so I don't understand this complaint really. I am happy to say we have greatly improved our hotel since this time period.
