We arrived at the Micotel on Dec. 30th and stayed through Jan 2. The hotel has a great location, it set directly behind space needle. Location is why we stayed here. Gatlinburg had fireworks and live show for New Years Eve. Our room was clean and that mattered most so I will stay here again. The down fall was little things like the toilet paper hold was falling out of the wall and the drain in the tub needed work. The 1st morning we were there we got up to no hot water and I mean no water came out it just made sounds(we did have cold water). I called the front desk and he said that 6 people had already called and the Manager was on him and he had the maintance man running aroud like a chicken with his head cut off. I hung up the phone thinking this is a mistake and I wanted money back and a different hotel but I waited about 45 minutes and we had hot water and it never happened again. Overall for the price and location we may stay here again. The staff when we checked in and out and the people cleaning our room are very friendly.

Me and my family stay at this hotel every year and the new owers have really done a good job cleaning it up. there are so many nice new things in the rooms the new shower rods give you so much more room and the beds are so comfortable with the new mattress on them. they where putting fridges in the rooms when we left.
anyone who has been stuck in a car with 2 young kids for 6 to 8 hours knows what it is like to see a smiling face when they walk in a hotel. they always make us feel welcome.
any one looking for a warm and comfortable stay in gatlinburg needs to check this place out and the price can't be beat either. we check around and most hotels where over $100.00 a night and not even as close to down town.
hope who ever read this enjoys it as much as we did

Easy to find only about a block off the parkway, and friendly desk clerks on all shifts. Now, some of the lights in the room did not work, an electrical outlet was loose from the wall (glad i didn't have small children), carpet runner between room and bathroom was standing in closet, curtain pullers were standing in the corner of the room, trash in the bathroom was full at checkin, window leaked into the room when it rained, I ran out of hot water during my shower, and there was lots of hair on the bed sheets when we turned them down for the first time. All this for $202 for two nights. I will probably not stay here again. There are to many other places to stay. If you do stay here, avoid room #201.

We just returned from a weekend in Gatlinburg. We always like to stay within walking distance of the Parkway and we always take our 2 chihuahua's so we chose Microtel. It is just a 3 minute walk to all the activity in town. The hotel has no pool but the rooms have been just fine for our pet-loving family. And how much time do you actually stay in the room anyway? Not much more than for sleeping, in our case. We had a queen bed and it also had a little window seat which allowed you to look straight up the mountain-we could see the folks on the Skyride-really neat at night! The room was a clean, non-smoking unit with a tub/shower combo. They have 3 floors and a ground floor-which allows you to park under the building. There is an elevator, camera-monitored-so when you need service to a floor someone advises it's coming:) They do offer a bare-bones cont. breakfast-we never make use of it-prefer one of the many pancake houses in town OR you could skip breakfast altogether and plan on a hefty buffet lunch somewhere in Pigeon Forge maybe. Or how about the famous Applewood-at the entrance to the Park? You'll adore their delicious apple fritters. But I digress. For the money, and the fact they take our dogs-you can't go wrong with Microtel Inn. We paid $59.nite in June...add an additional $10. per pet, per night. Here's a ittle tip for you pet owners-to eliminate all possibilities of a fido-accident in the room-bring along a few $1. cheap shower curtains and lay them out on the floor-PRESTO! No possible little accidents:) We fold them up and use them everywhere we go. Microtel is basic, no-frills lodging-and they take your fur-babies. One word of caution:Front desk person explained they are very serious about non-guests parking in their hotel parking area-you will be given a parking pass-display it clearly on your rear view mirror for security to see...no "boot" surprises!

“Small but not that bad”

MY wife and I stayed here in september 2005. We didn't mind that the room was microscopic. We weren't in the room all that much anyway. But the parking was ok, although you might as well plan on hiking your bags up to your room...the elevator wasn't working while we were there. The staff at the front desk were indifferent about double charging my credit card a few weeks after we got home. Overall, I would say stay here only if you plan to be out of the room 99% of your trip. Otherwise find a better hotel.
