NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL

Recently we stayed at this hotel during a cheerleading competition for my daughter. There were many, many, hotels in the area however none had a room during the time we needed.
So blindly we were forced to find whatever we could.
Whatever, would be the appropriate word. First of all this very over priced hotel is not conveniently located to downtown Gatlinburg as it states in ads. Try walking back and forth about two or three miles each way. Second, we booked a Suite, or so they called it. Which was supposed to have a seperate sleeping area, as in bedroom. We got there and paid the $180 a night then went to our room. The room was large, with a fireplace a sleeper sofa and jacuzzi tub in the center of the room. One queen size bed behind the sofa. The had a fridge and a two cup coffemaker, with no coffee, the table with three chairs.
The private balcony was very large considering it was shared with the next three or four rooms.
The room itself had not been cleaned. Coffee stains on the counter, table crumbs and sticky spills on the table, the bathrooms, well some things are best unsaid. The sofa was complete with a sweaty knee brace. The carpets, not vacumed.
We did mention it to the front, however, they did not respond, and did tell us they did not have a room like we described.
We let it go considering we couldn't get a room anywhere else at the time. Bedtime came the girls had no sheets, I had just gone down to get our rationed two towells, no washcloths, none in the room. So it was my husband's turn. He went down and got sheets and pillows for the girls. This time it only took the girl about thirty minutes to find anything, of course after her personal call was finished. We can't possibly interrupt that now can we.
If it had not been for her competition, we would have left. Even the next town of Pigeon Forge didn't have a room.
We finally escaped and got home to find the hotel had charged us twice. I contacted my bank and about two weeks later got a credit. Family Inns has yet to respond. I emailed a complaint, and they haven't responded to date. This is January 4, 2007. We stayed there December 6, 2006
All I can say is, NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

We booked a a family suite. The room had not been cleaned there was dust along windows floors especially in bathroom. We found bugs in tubs and a filthy floors the carpet had not been cleaned and nails were coming out around edges.. To top it off when I pulled back the bedding the king size bed had urine in it. Wet urine with yellow stains! We brought the hotel clerk into see it and she smelled it and could not believe that the maid had left the room in this condition. I advise anyone who might want to stay here to check your room before paying. as they have no refunds. Our hotel clerk transferred us to another room and that was dirty as well it had not been cleaned it was dusty and there were black spots on the sheets, we also discovered that the carpet next to the bed was wet from what I do not know but I can tell you that the room needed to be aired out it had a strange smell to it.

“Don't expect The Ritz and you'll be fine”

Family Inns Of America

Our family just got back from four nights at this hotel. The room wasn't horrible, but could have been cleaner. The staff was friendly and helpful. Maid service(cleaning) could be improved.
The T.V. remote needed reprogramed three times for no apparent reason and the toilet ran our last night there. The indoor spa worked great and the location to the entrance of the park couldn't be better. This hotel is right on the river, but don't be fooled its more like a stream. Next time I will spend more money and stay across the river at the Bear Skin Lodge or the Clarion looked real nice. If this was the only place I could get reservations I wouldn't be heart broken. For the money it was O.K. don't expect a lot

What we did like about the hotel was the location. We loved going into the national park and doing all of the trails. It was right next to the park, so that was great. Also, close to Ober Gatlinburg which was fun. The parts we didn't like: the carpet was dirty and torn. Bathroom was very dirty. The whole place needed a makeover. The continental breakfast included Little Debbies snacks. It was laughable that they would consider this a continental breakfast. We were bringing our dog, so we really couldn't switch, but next time the dog stays home and we will stay at a nicer hotel.

We were put into a room across the street and behind another inn. The room was old and look as if it was a place to take someone that you didn't want anyone to see you. DON"T BOOK ANY rooms from the Family inns WEST.
