Great ride even at night. Loved the Pictures. We took my preteen and teen. We have the cutest pictures of all 4 of us riding during the day and night!
Gives reat view of Gatlinburg. Not crowded like OberGatlinburg Tram.
Wore flip flops both times, never lost them!

The staff is nice on the bottom but on the top they are sort of in a hurried manner and want you off of there as soon as possible and some practically lifts you off the seat. Otherwise, it is nice and romantic and you can find some pretty good baragains ontop of the mountain in that little shop. The best part about it is the stops when a handicapped person has to get off and your suspended above the mountains. That is a con because sometimes they dont get it going again for an hour or so. The view is nice but the Ober Gatlinburg Chair lift is much and far more better. A little less pricey aswell if I dont recall.Also, the no smoking on the skylift signs are ridiculous. Who would want to smoke while enjoying the beauty of the smokies. Especially suspended over 30 foot in the air. Sheesh.

I agree with a previous reviewer, the sky lift at Obergatlinburg is better. We like to do what I like to call the "valley floor to the clouds" trip by taking the tram out of downtown Gatlinburg up to Obergatlinburg ($10/pp round trip), then taking the sky lift from there up to the top. It's only like $5 per person, and WOW! It is truly a "top of the world" kind of view. And if you don't want to spend the $10 on the tram, you can drive up to Obergatlinburg. But definitely don't go to Gatlinburg without going up there. We have a chalet rented in May, and can't wait to go again.

The Gatlinburg Sky Lift is exactly what you would expect: There is not anything hidden when you pay your money.... You're paying for the view, and that is all. If you're looking for some excitement or you're going for the ride, you need to go somewhere else. The view from the top is absolutely amazing.... but be prepared to shell out a little bit of cash. My wife and I paid a little over $20 for both of us in September of 2004.
