As a business owner I hate to leave negative feedback, however I believe that this review is warranted as I hope no one has a similar experience. We stayed in cabin 529- Sugar & Spice.
We arrived at the resort, the staff was friendly and accomodating. After a 9 hour drive I was ready for some much needed R&R as this was our first weekend getaway in years. When we arrived to our cabin I was excited by the charm and the promise of a great getaway. Once I walked in the door, the charm started to wane. The furniture was placed in awkward positions, the decorating was random and looked like it was purchased second hand. I could look past this, everyone has different tastes I suppose. Then I noticed the floor, stained and ripped in several places. It gave me a sense of a frat house. Not really what I expected from the online brochure. So I moved on to the bedroon hoping it would get better.. wrong. The king size bed was lumpy and looked to be extremely used. The furniture again was horrible, and not in keeping with the expectations. The bedding was ridiculous. The mattress cover was a queen size and was turned so that it would lay on top of the mattress. the fitted corners did not allow it to lay flat so it was lumpy and creases under the sheets. The sheets were scratchy and thin. There was only one bottom sheet, a top sheet and an extremely used quilt to cover the bed. The only extra blanket was one small quilted throw. The extra pillows had no cases. I tried to make the bed so that we could be comfortble only to notice hairs on the sheets. My husband looked at the pillows under the cases and there were stains everywhere. We were so grossed out we could not even think to sleep on the bed. We called to the front desk but there were no available units and not much recourse. All the area hotels were booked so we were stuck.
It was my husbands birthday (we were celebrating his birthday and mine from three days prior) and we ended up sleeping on the couch and loveseat on top of towels. I figured since it was his birthday I would allow him the "comfort" of having a couch. Of course we had no blankets to sleep with so I has to start the fireplace up every hour when it switched off to keep warm (It had an hour timer). After what seemed like an eternity, the sun rose and we were able to check out. Hotels.com took care of refunding our second night. The credited us for the 28 dollar fee the resort charged us for cleaning-- ?? I am still baffled by that one. We left, did some fun activities in Sevierville and decided to head north again. We tried to think of a nice place to stay along the way. We were a little "gun-shy" from the night before and just decided, there is no place like home.
So, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, romantic getaway, find somewhere else in my opinion. If you don't mind dust, mold, and other people's hair, stay here. I guess if I would have know to bring my own bedding and disinfectent, I would have been ok with the place. I just thought since I was paying $330 for 2 nights, that I could leave my cleaning skills at home. The grounds and cabin exterior were very nice. I guess you just can't judge a book by its cover.
