We had plans to stay at the Rocky Top Village Inn for 4 nights. After our first night there, we checked out and went to the Best Western down the street which was fabulous. The Rocky Top was cheap- $44.95/night when we went. My husband & I normally stay in "cheap" motels when we travel. We do not mind outdated places; we prefer to save money on hotels. So, we are not "hotel snobs"! :) BUT, Rocky Top did NOT even come close to meeting our expectations. I worked w/ 2 staff members at the main desk and neither one could hold a conversation. Also, when we checked out I politely explained why and they really didn't seem to interested. The carpet felt so dirty under our feet- so dirty we couldn't take our shoes off in the room. The air from the a/c smelled strongly of urine and kept us up in the night. The crib they provided was completely flimsy and not suitable at all for children. When I pulled the sheets back, there was a big black bug in our bed. We were on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator. I will say the shower was nice-- hot & good water pressure. And, the location was convenient to downtown. I would not stay here again unless they really cleaned the carpet and rooms. It just felt so dirty. Go down the street to Best Western ($65/night).
