We stayed at the Gatlinburg Inn for a long weekend with our two kids, 12 and 8. The location was excellent and the room was extremely clean. We booked a family suite. The only thing that was bothersome was the rooms connect via the bathroom. That was a bit inconvenient when moving between rooms if the bathroom was occupied.
Otherwise, we loved the quiet, family atmosphere. The kids loved the heated pool.
We overlooked River Road and the "Mysterious Mansion" which is a haunted house. They play scary music all day and into the night, however it didn't really bother us. If you need absolute quiet, request a room on the other side of the Inn.

I was a little unsure about staying at the Gatlinburg Inn. I'm pretty used to the new and "modern" hotels (Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, La Quinta,ect.) But I loved staying at the Gatlinburg Inn! The old time feel is what really wowed me. The shag carpeting, HUGE beds that are pretty high up off the floor, the goose feather pillows. The only negative would have to have been the smell. It had a pretty strong, old book, grandma house scent but you get use to it pretty fast. If your looking to try something new and exciting, go to the Gatlinburg Inn. =]

My wife and I slipped away from home and rode all night to get to Gatlinburg. After a delicious breakfast at the Pancake Pantry we decided to look for a room. We had always stayed on the mountain in various chalets and condos but we ran into some friends from our home town and they suggested the Gatlinburg Inn. What a find! We got there and felt like we had gone back in time. The hotel was built and 1937 and was remodeled in the 1960s. Obviously it hasn't changed since. The rooms were so clean and had that old smell like staying at your grandmother's years ago. The ladies at the front desk were precious and the security guys out front were just like out of Mayberry RFD. We ran into a couple that had been coming there for 30 years in a row and another for over 18 years. The view from our room showed not only the beautiful mountains, but the chair lift and also a view of the main street through Gatlinburg. It was just perfect. Even though our visit was short, it was the most relaxed we have been in years. We have done nothing but talk about it since we have got back home and back to work. I can't wait to go again. If you are used to the fast pace of this old world, take a detour and take a "time out" as they say today. You won't regret it.

What a wonderful visit we had in October,2006 at the Inn. This month is our 34 th anniversary and we just needed a weekend to relax. It was one of the busiest times that we have been to Gatlinburg with traffic . However when we arrived back at the Inn each day we were met with such a peaceful surrounding. The staff is excellent the facility is spotless and the front porch atmosphere with scenic view and good conversation is great. Please don't change a thing. The more the world changes the more these kind of retreats are needed. Keep up your high standards and morals for we all need that. Now back to Southern Illinois.
