“Awful!”

Garden Plaza Hotel Gatlinburg

The first room we checked into was next door to the loudest dog ever, so we decided to change rooms, which I didn't mind since the room smelled horrible. We switched rooms and the next one smelled just as bad. It smelled like a combination of mold and urine. The room itself appeared clean. But the bathroom was another story. There were cracks in the wall, mold and rust. There is not central air, but rather a unit under the window. The sound when the heat was on was miserable. It sounded like it was going to explode. It was difficult to sleep through the noise everytime it clicked on. We would have asked maintanance to come fix it, but when we went to the front desk because the remote control wasn't working, we were informed there was no maintanance staff for the day. Also when we first got to the hotel it was 45 degrees out, but they keep all of the heating units off in the rooms, so when you first check in you better not plan to stay in your room for long. The restaurant was closed during our trip, which was on a weekend, which seemed odd. The entire place looks rundown, inside and out. The only plus is the location.

I would not recommend this hotel, at all. Wife and I stayed there recently for two nights 12/07/07 and 12/08/07. I called the motel directly to make reservations and requested a double room in their Tower building (this one has an inside pool and hot tub), they have five different buildings. When I arrived I was given a room in a different building and told the Tower building was completely booked. I was offered a chance to move this next day, which I did. That evening, we found out the Tower Building didn’t have any hot water in any of the rooms all that day. During my first call to the front desk I was told the maintenance guys were working to fix the problem and everything should be corrected in a couple hours. We went out for dinner and a show that evening. When I returned and checked the water, still no hot water. I called the front desk again and was told that an outside contractor was working on the problem and it would be fixed and ready for the next morning. When I awoke next morning the first thing I checked was the water, guess what, again no hot water! So, we had to leave going home without a shower. This motel was ok a few years ago, but in the last year everything has gone down, it’s dirty and not being maintained. I will not waste my money staying there again. There are many nicer motels for less money.

“The worst place ever”

MY husband and I travel to Gatlinburg every summer one year we stayed here but left after one night. To be honest I do not know where to start the hotel was very dark inside creepy and the room
smelled like wet dog. The carpet was dirty and the room was small. We payed extra for a room with a view we received (no view) it was a directly parking lot view. The swimming pool outside was green with branches and leaves floating around and this was in the middle of summer. Our room was dark and stuffy to be honest I could hardly breathe because of the air it smelled so bad in our room. We heard people running up and down the hall around two in the morning. The walk from the hotel to the main parkway so terrible I was so tired that I did not have the energy to walk once we made it to the main parkway. We are
only in our 30's but it was awful the walk. On the way back we took the Trolly thank goodness for the Trolly. After one night we
decided to check out and run back to the hotel we love. We lost
our money for the other nights however it was worth it. This is the worst place we have ever stayed and would caution anyone.
There are much much better places to stay in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Save your money and go someplace else!

“Beware of this Holiday Inn Makeover!!!”

We booked 3 nights stay at the Garden Plaza Hotel (formerly an OLD Holiday Inn) on Historic Nature Trail in Gatlinburg, TN (Thanksgiving day thru the weekend). What a nightmare.

It is a pet friendly hotel, while I am an animal lover, this hotel is COVERED with pets...tons of them and smells like animal urine.

They took our money. They goofed our stay. When we came back from Dollywood the third night, they had locked us out of our room. They said we did not have a reservation for that night. They locked us out with all of our belongings inside. It was freezing cold and we had two tired children who were ready for bed.

I immediately went to the desk to see what was going on and where our stuff was. The girl at the desk told me that my reservation was only for 2 nights. I pulled out my confirmation that I printed when I made the reservation. Sure enough, it was for 3 nights. I asked for the manager.

He was nasty looking and looked as though he had been sleeping (it was 9:30pm). He didn't apologize or anything. I was very upset and asked for one of his cards to file a complaint because he could not have cared less about us being locked out. Needless to say, we will never stay here again.

Garden Plaza Hotel Gatlinburg

Nov. 8 thru Nov 12 --Me, my husband and our 3 children stayed at the GARDEN PLAZA that is formally the Holiday Inn at red light # 8 in Gatlinburg Tenn. At first they gave us a room in the very back... If you have children that is defiantly not what you want. The back building is isolated from everything else. It has a smaller pool and did not have a game room in that part. The game room is in the main building. If you have children the main building is where you want to be. So I told them I was not going to stay back there. Not with 3 children. So they gave us another room. I don't think they liked that very much but we reserved a room like months before. It over looked the gameroom and pool so I could keep an eye on my children (ages are 11, 14, and 17). We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days. The children really liked the pool and gameroom, The hotel was toward the top of the hill from the strip in Gatlinburg. Its only a short walk down to the strip. Don't eat at Bubba Gumps (Its on the corner) or Park Grill ( down the strip) unless you have PLENTY and I mean PLENTY of money. Over all the experince was good. We enjoyed the time we were there. The children were happy, we all had fun and after all the room is just to sleep in. :) See photos...
