Visited Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, TN the 3rd weekend of October when the Fall leaves are at peak. They were gorgeous and weather was great! Had a hard time finding a pet-friendly hotel and booked through the Chamber of Commerce website... was even given a good discount. Hotel is perfect for pets. Even gave my dog a pooper scooper gift bag with treats. This hotel has everything and the people are very friendly and helpful! Very clean, great location, free parking, room service, frig., internet, cable, blow dryer, coffee maker, bell hop if needed, indoor pool with gym, restuarant, gift shop, most comfortable king-size bed, early ck-in and late ck-out with Priority Club, food discount, work station, morning coffee with newspaper, extra linens and 5 pillows for one bed....and the extras go on! Being Fall Festival in the Smokies, the hotel was decorated really cute with pumpkin displays. Went horseback riding through the National Forest for an hr. for only $20.00. Trails and horses were great and the leaves breathtaking. Wild turkeys everywhere and people spotting bears with cubs in the trees along the roads. Perfect hotel for a perfect 3 day weekend to relax and enjoy nature's autumn in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Don't miss it next year!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree for one night, with my husband and niece. We were pleased with our room. It was very clean and comfortable, with no unpleasant odors. We stayed in one of the terrace buildings on the creek side. The creek was nice to look at, and we did not hear a sound all night. The air conditioning worked perfect. I booked this trip through Hotwire.com about a month ago. Since that time I have read some of the reviews posted here, and needless to say I was very upset with all the negative reviews. I even attempted to cancel my reservation because of it, with no luck. But all that was needless. The hotel turned out to be fine. It was away from the busy strip, but still within walking distance. I would not however recommend using Hotwire to book a trip. They are a rip off. They advertise big savings by booking sight unseeen on their site, with no refunds whatsoever. I paid 87.00 for the room. I could have booked it through Holiday Inn's own site for 87.99, with the opportunity to cancel if needed.

“Not worth it!”

There are a lot of independent older hotels in Gatlinburg - some nice and others not so nice, so rather than take a chance, we decided to stay at the Holiday Inn - a name we thought we could trust. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The room was very small and smelled incredilbly musty and damp. Additionally, the carpet was dirty and the walls in the bathroom had mold stains on them. It was so bad that we asked to see other rooms at the hotel so that we might move to a better room. The other available room we looked at was just as bad! The worst part is that it still cost $100 a night - this hotel room is not worth half that! In fact ,our experience was so bad that we left the hotel after 2 nights and moved to a different one down the road for the rest of our stay. ANYONE coming to Gatlinburg can do a lot better than this for the money!

After we booked this hotel through Priceline I was very concerned after reading the reviews on this site. However, when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel looked fine inside and out. The desk clerk was friendly and accomodating. There were two families in front of us for check-in but another desk clerk came so we waited only about 5 minutes. We called ahead and asked for 2 beds, no-smoking and a room in the tower building. All of these requests were honored with no trouble at all. Since the room was booked through Priceline, the hotel does not have to honor these requests but they did. I was still nervous when we started to the room. Our room was right by the elevator on the 3rd floor. However, there was very little noise by the time we went to bed each night which was around 11 PM. The room was as nice as any room for this class of hotel. The bathtub was roomy and everything was clean. The only two things that caused problems was that the beds were too soft (and we experience this at alot of hotels) and the AC was not cold enough but that is normal as well since we seem to like cold rooms for sleeping. The holidome was lovely with a nice indoor pool and hot tub and lots of arcade games. In fact, lots of effort has went into making this hotel nice, even down to having fruit punch in the lobby area. There is a huge outdoor pool that is heated as well. Most hotels no longer have a pool this large and it was beautiful with the lights on at night. I would recommend this hotel for a family trip to Gatlinburg.

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — If you want an inside corridor, ask for the tower building.

Lets just say I can not believe Holiday Inn owns this place. It is hard to imagine a major hotel chain could endorse such a dump. We are staying in a renovated room, which typically means the whole thing is renovated. Not at this hotel. It means they put a new coach in the room and changed the sheets. The toilet seat looks like it is 40 years old. If you are going to renovate a room, why would the toilet seat not be changed???? But that pretty much sums up this Motel.

The Motel has 2 buildings. One was an old holiday with a holidome (with mostly outdoor entry) and one was something else (with all outdoor entry). There are just a few rooms that are indoor entry and they all open to the pool, which is open till 11pm. We had one of these rooms. Overall the room has wireless internet access, a refrigerator, and a couch. In a normal hotel this would be pretty swank, however at the Sunspree it just does not make up for the fact that the hotel is downright dirty and the renovations that have been done do not cover it up.

We paid less than $50 for this hotel and feel like we paid to much. I am disappointed at both Holiday Inn and the travel Company from which we reserved the Hotel. If you are looking for a cheap hotel in Gatlinburg, go to the Microtel or Super 8. They are both accross the street and have to be cleaner than this hotel. Oh yea and I have not stopped itching since we got in our room, great stuff.
