we stayed here on our Anniversary. I think it used to be considered a very nice place to stay in Gatlinburg. It's actually pretty old and dated, and although it's been maintained reasonably well, it's not really somewhere I'd choose again.
It was reasonalby clean, rooms are big and spacious, balconies are nice and big also.
It's bascically a big high rise motel, not a hotel at all. No restaurant, room service, just a dimly lit, dingy breakfast room hidden on a middle floor by the elevator. We passed on this, just grabbing some OJ on our way out to a real pancake house.

Bathroom was early 80's glam, real tacky, but pretty clean. People are nice from what we saw, we weren't there much.
Didn't swim in the pool, but it looked nice enough.

One thing was real annoying. There was NOT enough parking! We drove around for 5 minutes waiting for someone to leave so we could park, but finally we gave up and parked out on the side lot. A little inconvenient, but hey this is gatlinburg!

This is a nice, reasonable place to spend a weekend, and prices aren't too high. It's basically ok, if you aren't really big on modern decor.

Our first visit to Homestead House was very positive. It was Memorial weekend and they were full but it was still quiet. The location was on the edge of the strip, at light #2. A good walk to town but we enjoyed the exercise. The room was roomier than most, we had a stone fireplace and a nice balcony. The pool, tennis courts and garden were a nice touch as well. Breakfast was better than most continentals with do it yourself waffles, grits and biscuits and gravy. There is ample, convenient parking. It is close to Hillbilly Golf, Damon's, Atrium Pancakes and Hard Rock Cafe. Also close to the aquarium. We had a refrigerator and microwave. It was difficult to get an iron and there are not blow dryers in the room.

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Open Hearth Hotel which was formerly the Homestead House and is now going back to being Homestead House. We have stayed here many times and always think of trying something new, but for the quality and the price we always come back. We had a 2 queen bed room with fireplace, refrig, microwave, and two sinks with a large balcony for $49.95 per night. The rooms are large and the hotel sits up on a hill and is very quiet. The trolley stops at the bottom of the hill, but even the walk to town is easy. A hot breakfast is included and everyone at the hotel is friendly and makes you feel welcome.

Very clean and quiet located at the outer edge of the strip but still within walking distance of all the attractions on the strip. Each room has a refrigerator and for 5 dollars more you can get a delux room that is very spacious, has a fireplace, kitchen sink and a balcony overlooking the heated pool, hot tub and tenis court. Alot of bag for the buck!
