It's right in the middle of town. Just park and walk. A little hard to get out of the parking lot when a lot of traffic.
Beautiful, rustic lobby with friendly staff.
I hope they replace the carpet soon. The place is old but clean.

Myself & 3 friends stayed at the motel for 3 nights whilst on vacation from England, On arrival the member of the motel staff who checked us in was most friendly couldn't be more helpful. But then it was downhill from then on. The rooms were quiet run down but were clean which is most important. It is in a convenient location for all the local attractions. Would stay there again if I should ever visit the area again, which is not very likely. We found not only were the motel staff not very friendly neither were the folks in the local shops & restaurants which again having visited a vast amount of the USA we found rather unusual. On checking out of the motel there was not a thank you for staying with us or even a goodbye have a nice day.

Across the street from this hotel is some sort of scary roadside tourist show, but that can't compare to our room with the butterfly on its sliding glass door! This hotel was like Disney's Tower of Terror! My daughter and my husband went into the a door, which we thought was the front door, to make a reservation for the night. Instead he had to pick up a phone at the vacant desk to call the clerk. At less than $70 a night, we thought this hotel was a bargain (Since the one next door was nearly $100 a night). As we entered the hotel's back door and proceeded through the corridor to room 115, my daughter blurted out, "Hey dad, wasn't that the elevator we came up in?", she said pointing to a paper sign that read "Out of Order." Scare # 1. As we walked down the dank, dark, and dusty hallway, the carpet clad floor creaked under our feet. Yet, Scare #2 came as we began to search for our room - #113, even #114, but no #115, only a door with no number. My eight year old insisted (Why, I don't know) we continue to look, and there at the end of the hallway was room 115. My husband proceeded to slip the now obsolete metal key into the lock, as we gained entrance into some reverse time machine! As you enter the room, there is some sort of keeping area (Like a closet, yet it's dark somewhat smelly). The actual room was dark, as per the dark paneling that covered the walls.
The beds were large, soft, and clean, yet the spreads were dark red. The ceiling was tiled and drooping. Nestled in the middle of the ceiling was a 1950s style light fixture. The room had a small television, refrigerator, and 1960s style table lamp. There was an interesting note left on the dresser atop two astrays; it said, "Please tip the housekeeper." The bathroom was very old looking (Pink tiles around tub and on the floor, also a gas space heater on the wall), yet it was clean. The room opened up to a small patio that faced the pool. Scare #3 came in the early morning hours, as I was awakened by two voices saying, "We'll leave them alone." That was strange. Ghosts???? All I know is the place was built in 1925, and remodeled in the 1940s. I'm sure there are a lot of trapped memories in those walls. To sum it up, the lodge is quaint, yet erie. Historical, yet mystifying. If you're up for adventure - go for it!

We decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Gatlinburg this past weekend. Since it is off season, we didnt really worry about making reservations ahead of time. Instead we picked up one of those coupon books at the State Line Welcome Center. We chose the Riverside Motor Lodge, big mistake. The hotel was built in 1926 and I daresay has had little refurbishment that I could see since that time. Our room had ONE double bed! The tv was tiny, there was no coffee pot, no hairdryer, it had electric wall heaters. The worst part was the paper thin walls. The people in the next room sounded like they were right there in the room with us. We could hear all their conversations and the guy coughed all night long. Needless to say, we checked out the following morning. We were so exhaused we cut our trip short and headed home so we could get some sleep. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it is in a good location, right in the middle of everything. The entrance is right beside Shoney's Restaurant but believe me, being close to everything is not worth the night of torture we endured there. Keep looking!
