Hello fellow trip advisor members and readers,
I am about to write a very honest review of the melasti and wont sugar coat anything but bare in mind it may be at times positive and negative and not towards the hotel only.
My family , hubby, me, 16 year old, 13 year old, 9n year old, 7 y o and 72 year old mother have just returned from a wonderful trip to bali. This was my 6th time to bali with my family but my mothers first time. Ok, on arriving at the melasti we were greeted by lovely welcoming staff who helped us immediately and presented us with a lovely cold juice as we checked in. we asked for interconnecting rooms but unfortunately were not accomodated. the staff apologised several times and told us that they would try and juggle some guests and bookings and try to move us into interconnecting rooms asap. two days later we were offered interconnecting rooms. We were shown to our cottages and they were both perfect. mine was opposite the pool and although sometimes u could hear people swimming in the pool after hours, after ringing security they quickly responded and removed the swimmers. my mothers cottage room was perfect, directly opposite ours, we could wave to each other and it was ground level so she didnt have to tackle the stairs. the rooms are huge. i dont think u would find bigger hotel rooms anywhere. the rooms were cleaned every day, linen changed and fresh water. now for some home truths, the rooms are a little old but really so is my house and i only built it 2 years ago and i dont have thousands of tourists coming through my door. as previously stated this was my 6th trip and was the cheapest hotel we have ever stayed in so we were not expecting much but were pleasantly surprised. this is a traditional bali hotel with basic facilities, if you are expecting the hilton well dont bloody stay here go and waist ur money there. the pools were amazing, clean and big. yes, banana lounges are getting old and there are some loose tiles but grab a towel shut up and sit on the ground or grass like u would do at the beach. mind u there are plently of lounges, and padding and if there isnt they will find one for u. pool bar was fine, service around the pool non existant. again get of your butt order ur own drink and it will arrive to u rather promptly. they are there to service u not be ur slaves so to the people that say they dont come to u when u raise ur hand around the pool, i say so they damn well shouldnt. the grounds are beautiful exceptionally well maintained, the gym is non existant but really on hols does it matter, go for a walk along the beautiful clean beach at ur doorstep. the kids play area to u and me has seen better days but dont judge a book by its cover, kids still played there everyday., it was always full of different aged children. Breakfast, well dont get me started, it is fine. yes it gets borin g but come on dont tell me u cook a differemt breakfast everyday. most of us are lucky enough to grab a piece of toast on our way out the door or a soggy weetbix. There is an egg station, pancakes, rice dishes, french toast, juices, fruit and spreads. It does not have vegemite, take ur own. Now, before everybody accuses the staff at the melasti for being thiefs i would like to say that we left out ipods, iphones, nintendos, games and often money and nothing ever went missing, I would be very surprised if it was the staff and not so surprised if someone told me that it was guests staying at the hotel who cleverly pretend they have left their keys behind or something and can enter anyones room. As for the bogans, yes it is full of you guessed it australian bogans. not balinese just disgusting aussies who complain about everthing, drink far to much, are paying very little but expect 5 star. we arrived home and have booked to go again and although i was very hesitant about staying at the melasti after reading trip adfvisor reviews i have re booked melasti again next year. For the money and position u will not find better. if anyone wants any tips on lunch and dinner places or the price of things please feel free to contact me.
