Just stayed at this property for a conference. Although the rooms were not as spectacular as I had hoped, the wonderful staff, location, and governor's club made up for that. Please note that the rooms weren't bad....just not as nice as I had hoped after seeing the lobby.
The room was large and very clean. My only problem was that the bathroom was extremely small and could definitely stand to be updated. Even though I was on the Governor's level, my bathroom wasn't nearly as nice as some of the rooms on the regular level. There also wasn't much water pressure. But, it was still a nice room and I loved the orange scented soaps and shampoos. The rooms are very quiet, which I found delightful considering I am a very light sleeper.
I commented to the staff several times that they were the friendliest staff I've ever dealt with, from the people at registration to even the cleaning staff and especially the reservation people.
I highly suggest upgrading to the governor's level. For me, it was only an extra $30. For that money, you get private access levels, which was incredibly nice with the large amount of people there for the conference. You also get a continental breakfast (which includes bloody mary's on the weekend), access to a business center (you also have free wireless internet in the rooms), and in the evening from 4:30-10:30, there are snacks and unlimited free top shelf drinks. The drinks were wonderful, and Brian the bartender was very friendly and specializes in a French martini which everyone seems to love. Also, the snacks they provided were quite nice....cheese stuffed olives that were fried and hummus and pitas on one night, and chicken kabobs and mexican dip the other. Also, on both nights they had blocks of gourmet cheeses to sample. Then, around 9 or so, they bring out a selection of desserts....the chocolate mousse cupcakes are to die for.
Because of all the food they provided, I actually didn't go out to eat much. But, I did eat in the hotel restaurant called Ovations. The menu is a bit pricey, which is pretty normal for a hotel. But, they do offer a salad bar for $8 that includes a large selection of salads, 4 types of soup, various cheeses and desserts. It was a great find.
I found the parking to be fine, and a good deal at $7 a night. However, I cannot imagine parking a larger vehicle in there. I drive a Vibe, and even my antenna hit the clearance bars.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is located in a nice area with lots of bars and restaurants, but it poured the entire time I was there, so I pretty much stayed confined to the hotel.
