My boyfriend and I wanted to visit New Orleans for a quick weekend getaway from the city. I found the Confederacy of Cruisers on TripAdvisor of course and read all these fabulous reviews. They are all true! This tour was seriously the highlight of our trip! There is no way we would have seen these parts of New Orleans or had a chance to experience this great food without our guide, Cassandra.
We decided to go with the culinary tour, wanting to get a real taste of what the locals eat and where they go to eat it! You definitely get your monies worth on this tour! Try not to fill up at the first two stops because you will suffer from a complete food coma if you do. Everything is so delicious it was hard to stop once you start.
The staff at the Confederacy is so wonderful as well. Carin helped set up our reservation and provided all information I had requested as well as answered any questions for me. Lycia is so great, sent me a text the night before confirming our reservation she made sure all the bike seats were set to a comfortable height and even offered her number if we needed suggestions along the way AFTER our tour. Cassandra was our guide and was so wonderful and knowledgeable on the food and the areas! Not only did I learn about what we were eating and where to go but also some history and background on the neighborhoods. There is no way I would have been able to find these places to dine at. Everyone was so friendly as this seems to be the trend in New Orleans.
All the equipment is in great condition. They really want to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe! We were here during the heat wave and it was HOT, but not once did I ever feel uncomfortable. We were in and out of air conditioning and nothing a little cocktail can’t fix. Biking around New Orleans is a great way to see the city and parts you probably wouldn’t ever consider going to. However if you’re not one to be adventurous and possibly have to deal with some uncomfortable weather due to Mother Nature, this trip may not be for you. (I suggest you stay in the French Quarter close to your hotel.) For those wanting to get out of the quarter for some real fun, this is it. I found it to be a very easy ride, as there are no hills in the New Orleans. Cassandra made sure no one was ever left behind in the group and made sure we had the best time and best meals on this tour. I can still taste that roast beef poor boy. I will definitely be coming back for more!
Thank you all so much for such a great time, you were so wonderful!
