Our group went there for dessert and it was amazing. Our group ordered the banana's foster and the sour cream crepe with strawberries on top. The waiter cooked both right in front of us and it just adds to the fun. The banana's foster was very good but the strawberry crepe was fabulous!!!

“Everything is FIRST CLASS”

Brennan's Restaurant

My husband and I ate there for our 3rd anniversary and it was unforgettable! Our server was attentive, the food impeccable, and the atmosphere was perfect! We travelled to New Orleans and dined at Brennan's right before Katrina and had a wonderful time - this go round, everything was better than ever! Don't miss out.

“Terrible service, bland food and no atmosphere. Save your money!”

After a wonderful weekend of so many great meals in New Orleans we were excited to visit the highly recommended Brennan's. Wow, what a HUGE disappointment! We do not mind splurging on a meal if the service is good and the food is good. But the food was terrible. The service was terrible and ridiculously slow. The waiter was slow and clumsy and disinterested in us. We enjoy nice leisurely Sunday brunches but the pace of this meal was ridiculous. We had to ask for our bill twice.

$95 for two people not including tip we had one order of oysters rockefeller, two bland omelettes a la carte, coffee and two Miller Lite beers. This might have passed for great food and service 20 years ago but not today. $25 for a bland egg & crab omelet? It wasn't even organic or had cage free eggs. It only came with a baked tomato that was equally bad tasting. To add insult to injury the omelet was barely even warm when it arrived. The andouille sausage & cheddar omelet barely had any sausage in it and again it lacked any flavor.

The oysters rockefeller were ok but not great. Their famous bananas foster was good but not great. If you absolutely must go to the home of the bananas foster I recommend that you go and get ONLY that.

Save your money but more importantly your time and go to a place like Luke's or Ignatius for a great meal where the service is great and the staff wants to know not only how your meal is but your entire trip and they thank you for coming in to their restaurant and are genuinely happy to meet you.

“SKIP this place!”

Brennan's Restaurant

6 Apr 2008

Skip this place! The absolute worst service we had in all of NOLA. Very overated. People it is JUST eggs! You would be much happier going to Court of Two Sisters and having a full brunch menu for about the same price as an entree and beverage at Brennans. We went for a mid morning breakfast. Decor is nice, but that is where it stopped. Plenty of servers, but horrible service. Cup of coffee came about 15 minutes after we were seated. Never even offered a refill. Very expensive breakfast, and without a doubt .....not worth it!

“Worst dining experience in NO”

Brennan's Restaurant

We both looked forward to Brennan's breakfast - how bad is this place?. The good point - the banana's foster was nice.

The bad points - I assume the surly receptionist's face would crack if she attempted a smile. At least fake politeness would have been nice. Our wait staff weren't much better We went for the prix fixe (thats french for 'rip off' - $50 each for 3 courses as we had soup and the bananas fosters - an extra $14 to the $36 charge). We ordered drinks but these didn't arrive - my wife had to request decaf coffee 3 times. I was given a coffee despite not having ordered it - lukewarm and completely cold by the time I finished. My wife detected detergent in my gumbo soup - wouldn't be at all surprised given the shoddiness of the place. Soup was again lukewarm and forgettable. We were then interrupted by another waiter shouting about making his child support payments to guests at another table - very classy. Next up were the eggs houssard. Desperate. This is a 'Holland Rusk' - toasted roll halved with 'Canadian bacon' (some processed junk) and a cheap egg smothered in sickly hollandaise sauce, complete with an undercooked tomato half with cheese. Coming from London, Engalnd its actually difficult to find somewhere this expensive for breakfast, but if you do you'd expect specially sourced bacon from independent (organic) farms and good quality eggs. I've eaten better breakfasts at Denny's or the IHOP.

As I mentioned the bananas foster was good, but not nearly enough to make up for everything else. I noticed by the mostly grim looking tourists (I would guess 90% plus were fellow travellers) that our experience was not unique. Save yourself the money (our bill was $140) and head anywhere but here. If you really have to go, simply order the banana's fosters and get out.

I should say we visited Brennan's Steakhouse and Commander's Palace (also a Brennan's restaurant) and these were both wonderful. However after this miserable meal we vowed not to give the Brennan clan our custom again.
