My wife and another couple spent the weekend in New Orleans in March. Some people said Gautreau's had not reopened but then we saw an article in the Times Picyunne about the owners struggle to get it reopened and that it was open. We called for reservations, got them and went. Since it had just reopened we were a little concerned about it being as good as it had been. We can report that the reconstruction was done well, the ambiance was great- restaurant was full of people that were obviously friends so a little loud but not too load and it might have been better than before Katrina. The service was great, the food delicious and the owner came by and thanked us for coming. It is a little hard to find, parking is a problem and no valet service but it is worth it.
