The best cornbread ever.
We found the service to be friendly, not perfect, but felt like home. Tilipia was excellent. Peach crisp crust was hard, but bread pudding good. Pork loin was quite tasty. Overall, above average experience.
The ambiance is lovely and the gumbo sampler is pretty amazing, too.
My husband and I visited Olivier's, and we were slightly disappointed. Here are the ups and downs of our visit:
Service - I think just about every other waiter in the place was great, except ours. We did have a couple other waiters help out at our table though, and they were very good.
Food - The bread was nice, but the butter was darn near frozen solid. The salads were great, and they come with every entree (always a good thing!). I highly recommend the Creole Vinaigrette. My husband tried the Spicy Bleu Cheese and it wasn't nearly as good as the vinaigrette. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi, which was excellent. I later found out that it's actually the staff favorite. My husband ordered the Crawfish Etouffee and it was very, very bland. DO NOT order the Crawfish Etouffee if you decide to visit.
Decor - This restaurant is very pretty. It's very elegant with beautiful chandeliers, dark woods, and pretty linen tablecloths. However, on our visit we saw everything from suits to shorts, so don't worry about having to get dressed up. Anything goes here.
Overall - I would go back and just cross my fingers and hope for a better waiter.
We were very psyched to go to this restaurant after reading so many positlve reviews. My husband and I both found our entrees bland. The waiter put a bottle of Tabasco on the table and it was only that and salt and pepper added to my crawfish etouffee that gave it any flavor. The trio of different gumbos (appetizer) was above average--I especially liked the file gumbo. The salad dressings--a spicy bleu cheese for my husband and the creole vinegrette for me---were tasty. We would probably not dine here again.
