Don't be fooled by the "boutique hotel" label; the Queen & Crescent is basically a Motel 6 with a little more character cause it's in an old building.
I stayed here with two friends. After checking in, we found that neither our room nor bathroom had a trash can, the toilet took a suspiciously long time to flush (even with liquids only!), the sink was cracked, the bathroom doorknob had a hole where the lock had been, the closet had no hangers, and there was no do not disturb sign.
There's a *mandatory* $8.95/night internet fee, which is not included in whatever rate you paid online -- you have to pay it at check-in. The wifi connection wasn't secure.
My friend forgot to pack a toothbrush, so I suggested she check and see if they had any to give out upon request. They said they did, and they'd send it right over. We also asked for a couple of hangers. Neither ever came. My friend followed up on the toothbrush many hours later, and they said they didn't have any. Totally understandable at a budget hotel, but why not just say so in the first place?
By the end of our first day, the toilet had clogged and flooded the bathroom after only minor use. It took over an hour to get someone to unclog it, and they didn't clean the bathroom or think of offering clean towels to replace all the ones we had to put on the floor. So we requested clean towels -- they came 5 hours later, after I had gotten some from a housekeeper I found outside someone else's room when we got tired of waiting. Also, although the toilet was unclogged, it still flushed as slowly as it did when we first checked in. We started using the public restroom in the hotel lobby, though the sink there seemed to have plumbing issues too.
If you have a phobia of slow, old elevators that make creepy noises, you might want to think twice about staying here.
On a positive note, the Queen & Crescent is in a great location if you plan to spend a lot of time in the French Quarter -- it's about a 3 minute walk away on the other side of Canal St. Also, at least the staff were friendly and nice when we asked them for anything, even if it was the second time we had asked and (as we would later find out) they had no intention of doing it. The bellhop(?) was the best -- we asked him to get us a taxi to the airport in 20 minutes, and when we came back exactly 20 mins later, the taxi was pulling up at the curb.
This hotel isn't trashy or terrible, but I've experienced better. I can't imagine paying over $100/night to stay at this place.
