We were actually booked at another hotel that called at the last minute to tell us they needed to close the property due to a family emergency, only 2 days before we left for Alaska. We called Holiday Inn Express and were very happy to get a room even though it was labor day weekend. I did have a difficult time getting them to send me a confirmation electronically but I was always treated well whenever I contacted them. We had a room facing the harbor with a balcony so we could watch the fish being hung up for pictures at the end of the day. The room looked nice and the beds were comfortable. My husband requires handicap parking and we were able to park right next to the hotel entrance. It is easy to walk to good restraunts (Ray's). The only thing that distracts from this nice property is that there is clearly some housekeeping weaknesses. When we came in, we found that coffee had been spilled all over the top of night stand, in between the two beds. There was still quite a puddle and it was in the receiver of the phone. Not likely that anyone could have cleaned this area. That is when we decided to hit all the surfaces with the clorox wipes we always carry. There was one empty toilet paper roll that was not a problem but just looked really tacky with streds of paper hanging from it and we had to trek to another floor for ice. Not a problem except that the room key would not let you on to the other floors and the elevator was VERY slow. On the second day (still did not replace the toilet paper roll) and did not empty the ice bucket filled with water now, that was leaking on the little table. Not that dramatic but I would have expected more for paying over $200 for a room. When I shared my concerns with the front desk they did appear concerned and did take a note. Should they correct this problem, it will be a top notch property. - What a beautiful area. So glad we got the chance to see it.

This is definetely one of the nicer hotels in Seward. We walked from the cruise ship terminal to the hotel in the morning. The locationis excellent for all trips. It's close to Exit Glacier Guides if you want to take to the shuttle to Exit Glacier and close to all boats departing for the Kenai Fjords. The town is a bit further but that makes a nice walk. The hotel is quite new and the rooms are very large. Our room had a harbor view and the bathroom was very large. The staff was very friendly. If I go back to Seward I would defintely stay here again.

I grew up in Alaska and have visited Seward many times and have stayed at several hotels in Seward. I was very impressed by the Holiday Inn and would definitely stay there again. I haven't stayed at every hotel in town but it definitely has to be one of the nicer hotels in town.

1) Overall Hotel: The hotel is very new. The common areas are very clean. Location is great - it's right on the harbor and you can walk to your morning fishing charter very easily. Parking is a bit limited - there is free parking in the front of the hotel and on the side of the hotel. This didn't entirely surprise me since parking around the harbor and downtown areas are normally very limited since Seward gets a lot of tourist traffic - especially during the summer months.

2) Rooms: Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and spacious. I was lucky enough to have a room facing the harbor and had a great view of it. Rooms include an iron and ironing board, as well as a TV with a surprisingly large number of cable channels.

3) Breakfast: The continental breakfast was quite good. They served the standard cereals, oatmeal, pastries, juice, coffee, etc., but also served some hot items.

4) Amenities: The hotel included a small pool and whirlpool. I was hoping for a small fitness room but they didn't have one. There is a small business center - one PC with Internet access and a printer in the lobby. It's first come - first serve. There are also several small businesses - including at least one tour business and a gift shop on the main floor of the hotel, just off the lobby.

My husband stayed the night here before going on a day cruise out into the Kenai Fjords. The hotel has a great location, we were just steps from the docks for our day cruise. We had a room that overlooked the harbor and it was neat to see all the different boats. The complimentary breakfast was very good and a nice start to the day. The price was a little high, but what we expected for the area. If/when we would go back to Seward, we would definitely stay here again.
