I grew up in Alaska and have visited Seward many times and have stayed at several hotels in Seward. I was very impressed by the Holiday Inn and would definitely stay there again. I haven't stayed at every hotel in town but it definitely has to be one of the nicer hotels in town.

1) Overall Hotel: The hotel is very new. The common areas are very clean. Location is great - it's right on the harbor and you can walk to your morning fishing charter very easily. Parking is a bit limited - there is free parking in the front of the hotel and on the side of the hotel. This didn't entirely surprise me since parking around the harbor and downtown areas are normally very limited since Seward gets a lot of tourist traffic - especially during the summer months.

2) Rooms: Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and spacious. I was lucky enough to have a room facing the harbor and had a great view of it. Rooms include an iron and ironing board, as well as a TV with a surprisingly large number of cable channels.

3) Breakfast: The continental breakfast was quite good. They served the standard cereals, oatmeal, pastries, juice, coffee, etc., but also served some hot items.

4) Amenities: The hotel included a small pool and whirlpool. I was hoping for a small fitness room but they didn't have one. There is a small business center - one PC with Internet access and a printer in the lobby. It's first come - first serve. There are also several small businesses - including at least one tour business and a gift shop on the main floor of the hotel, just off the lobby.

My husband stayed the night here before going on a day cruise out into the Kenai Fjords. The hotel has a great location, we were just steps from the docks for our day cruise. We had a room that overlooked the harbor and it was neat to see all the different boats. The complimentary breakfast was very good and a nice start to the day. The price was a little high, but what we expected for the area. If/when we would go back to Seward, we would definitely stay here again.

This place is really the place to stay when u r visiting Anchorage. It's really close to the Airport and ask for the manager's rate to get a much better deal ($169 plus taxes).
* The construction is new
* The rooms are SPACIOUS
* the bathrooms are super clean and look brand new
* the linens and towels are super soft and fresh
* the beds are firm and comfortable
* the rooms in the back have views of the mountains
* breakfast is included in the rate
* there is even a tiny pool, gym, laundry room and business center (Which they let us use to print our boardign passes in spite of us having checked out two days earlier)
The rooms are surely better than 4 star and the staff is really polite, courteous and helpful.
Please consider staying here when u have to spend a night in Anchorage.

We went for a room with a view of the harbor and it was worth it. It was a great feeling in the morning to look out over that peaceful harbor (and a cruise ship). Easy walking to all the local restaurants.

Rooms were decorated typical Hilton Express - it was very clean with great service and support. Very good value compared to other choices.
