We visited Seattle in May of 2008. Our stay at the Red Lion on 5th was the best hotel experience ever. We booked it on priceline by naming our own price and got it for $75 a night.
We took the train from eugene, and took a cab to the hotel (about $15). We had heard that parking was expensive ($35 a/night?) so we walked everywhere from then on and skipped getting a rental until the last day when we needed it to go to a Mariners game and get back to amtrack with all our luggage.
The mattresses were so nice i want to get the same kind at home! There were complimentary Bath and Body Works mini shampoos and such, we got the coconut scent. My boyfriend forgot his toothbrush, and they had spares for free that they sent up. The room had a fridge, and coffeemaker. I dont remeber if there was a microwave though. We had a city view, but then we didnt come to look out the window.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Pikes Place market, where we ate breakfast most days at a little french bakery. We even walked up to capitol hill for a concert at Chop Suey, although i wouldnt recommend the walk. It was exhausting.
We walked to the monarail that went to the space needle, experience music program, and the pacific science center. These were all a ton of fun.
If you want to go to alot of the museums (EMP/space needle etc) get an entertainment book online for the seattle area. There were a ton of buy one get one free coupons in it. We really saved alot of money doing this.
Overall this is the best hotel i have ever stayed in (and ive traveled alot). It was so comfy and the staff was really nice and the location was perfect.
