Fabulous place to stay. Away from the business of the city, but close; secluded but open. Just miles away from Flat Top Mnt. A must adventure. We stayed nine nights - were able to enjoy both ends of the house. We stayed in the Arctic Nights suite, other family members stayed in the other two rooms. Mid-week, we all transferred to the Berry Patch end and stayed as a family.

The hospitality was by far the best. Very accommodating hosts. We stayed during a Salmon run and got to partake in the joy of fresh, smoked salmon for breakfast. First morning there we were entertained by two yearling moose that strolled in and had breakfast of their own - not many flowers remained.

Best part is we made this "Base Camp." You are just minutes from downtown. You can take day trips North or South and still be back in time to enjoy the wonderful relaxing Hot Tub, under the stars. We took trips to Talkeetna - flew with R2 Aviation around the mountains, went to Independence Mine - beautiful drive, only an hour north. Got up early and caught the train to Seward and took a boat out through the Kenai Fjords and saw the glaciers. Drove to Portage Glacier - an hour south and had dinner at the Seven Glaciers Restaurant at the Aleeska Resort – a must trip and dinner.

So much one can do. But most of all, the place is great and the folks are great. We will definitely return and spend another day at the Mangy Moose.

My family (including 2 year old daughter) and I used the Mangey Moose as our base in Anchorage as we travelled around nearby areas and spent a total of 3 nights there. We loved the place and friendly owners who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The B&B itself in terms of location and layout suited our needs for a quiet, child-friendly, homelike atmosphere with all the amenities including laundry and internet! It was a great place to unwind from travel, and for our daughter to play (inside and out). The breakfast (pancakes, eggs, the whole 9 yards) and real coffee were a treat to look forward to in the morning, and we were also able to buy and microwave our own food for lunches when we were too comfortable to go out to a restaurant. Anyway, I highly recommend it and all of us, a multi-country, (American and my South African in-laws) and multi-age (2 - 74) crew were very satisfied. Make sure you bring the directions when you arrive as some of the taxi drivers are quite clueless. Its not far from the airport and easy to find however with the directions (provided by the B&B booking agent.)

As a tour leader from the fly fishing company in Denmark, GetAway Tours, specializing in exotic fly fishing travels, I stayed in Mangy Moose with a 7 person group in 5 days.

I must say that this is by fare the best experience I have ever had staying in a B&B or a hotel.

The hosts, Sally and Tim are always smiling and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

The place is always clean and the rooms are very nice with the top rooms being just amazing. You must see it for yourselves.

Sally makes sure you have a perfect start with a very nice breakfast. If you have any special wishes just tell her.

I sincerely recommend The Mangy Moose, and I hope to be back soon.

My seven person group, with people from Denmark. Sweden and Finland have been very satisfied with the stay.

I still miss the evenings in the outside Hot Tub.

Best regards

The Alaska Mangy Moose Bed & Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay. Our family of 8 enjoyed very comfortable, clean rooms for four nights in June. Extended family stayed in other rooms the last two nights for a family reunion. All the rooms were great with a variety of styles from homey to elegant. The shared area made this the ideal place for the whole family to mingle. At the same time, couples were equally at home. As noted in other reviews, the breakfasts were terrific and served with style. Best of all, the hosts Tim and Sally were exceptionally nice people. They had a very gentle, friendly manner and were completely available for advice about outings, etc. We feel like we have new friends in Anchorage and will stay there again on our next visit. I would recommend the Mangy Moose to anyone interested in a pleasant stay.

We had a wonderful time at the Mangy Moose B&B. The owners were friendly, helpful and accomodating. We took the three less expensive rooms and entry living room for our family of 8. The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. The decorations in each room followed a theme and were Alaskan and charming. Breakfast every morning was extremely nice, available at our chosen time, and deliciously and freshly made. The picture window in the kitchen dining room is great. The meal was served on china on a beautifully arranged table. Other guests also seemed to be enjoying their stays. Our niece and husband and baby stayed too (nice crib and lots of space) as well as our nephews in the other beatifully and newly redecorated rooms. The B&B is recently under new owners and we recommend their lovely home highly. Also we did in fact see a moose mama and baby the first morning just two houses away! We are grateful for the great time we had and the wonderful care we received at the Mangy Moose.
