I stayed here three separate times over a two week period in August 2007, so I got to stay in several different rooms. The rooms (and everything else in the hotel) were very clean and everything in the rooms was very new. Two of the rooms I stayed in included a small refrigerator and a microwave, which was nice to have. The rooms also include ironing boards and irons. However, the third room I stayed in did not include either item. The rooms did not have WiFi but wired broadband Internet access. However, there are two computers (first come, first serve) in the lobby that are connected to the Internet and printers.
The complimentary breakfast is fairly good. The hotel begins serving breakfast at 6:30AM. They offer coffee, milk, juice, egg-based breakfast sandwiches, cereal, oatmeal, waffles and a few more things. They provided daily copies of the Anchorage Daily News free of charge, although I'm not sure if they provide free copies of the Sunday paper since it is more expensive.
The hotel's fitness center is small but was adequate for my purposes. It included an elliptical machine, stationary bicycle, treadmill and dumbells. It also included a television, clean towels, a scale and a water cooler. The sign on the fitness room notes that it opens at 6am. However, I checked with the front desk and an employee told me that they never lock it up - you can use it whenever you want. Adjacent to the fitness center is a small pool and a whirlpool.
This hotel has plenty of parking and it is free. It is also very close to the airport - it's actually on the same road as the airport. It is only a five minute drive away. The hotel also has a shuttle van but I did not use it.
I travel to Anchorage a lot on business (I actually used to live there) and would definitely recommend this hotel. However, it is in midtown Anchorage and this part of Anchorage is not as pedestrian friendly, if you don't have a car. If you want to stay at a hotel where you can walk to restaurants, shopping, etc., you may want to stay at a hotel in the downtown area.
My only negative experience with this hotel was being awakened at 3am one morning by people in the room above mine who were probably inebriated. Fortunately, the noise didn't last for long.
