I gave this hotel 3 stars and my main complaints are the cleanliness and the loud noise.
This Ramada is quite a distance from the train station so keep this in mind (there is another location downtown) when booking. After our 8-hour train ride, Ramada picked us up from the train station as prompt as they could considering they are a good 20min from downtown Anchorage. The young female driver was nice and friendly.
When we arrived at the hotel we were told they lost our reservations. Actually, they completely confused our reservations by booking multiple nights (when we requested one night) on a completely different week. Needless to say, the only room available was a smoking room (we are non-smokers). Luckily, there was a last-minute cancellation and we were given a room.
Unfortunately, the room wasn't all that clean -- a prior guest's hair was all over the sheets. In addition to this, we were unable to sleep the entire night because their air vents were so loud (we stayed on the 1st floor) and the walls were extremely thin (we could hear our neighbor's TV on low volume). There is no fan in the bathroom but they did have a fridge and a microwave, which came in handy.
We chose this hotel since it was a good deal cheaper than other hotels and at $70 it wasn't that bad of a deal. I wouldn't stay because they offer a free breakfast. The only thing worth taking away are the fresh fruit and juices. Although the breakfast is served in a chinese restaurant adjoined to the hotel that has a nice chinese-themed decor.
