I surprised my wife with a trip to this place and it was perfect. We chose one of the suites in the back (the Lavender suite) and it was very nice. The staff are great. I had read about their french toast on some reviews but they were not planning on making it in the morning (we only stayed one night) b/c it was already on the menu that morning before we checked in. They actually made the dish special for us b/c I told them why we were there that weekend (celebrating our engagement anniversery) and how much my wife loved french toast. The food, in all, was excellent and we really enjoyed the wine tasting they had in the evening. One more thing about they accomodating staff; they even let me use their computer to do my fantasy football lineup! We will deinitely return for another visit!

The Inn at 835 has it all. It's lovely, historic, and in a convenient location. We stayed in the Poppy room which had a good comfortable bed, a private porch looking out over the pleasant tree-lined neighborhood, a great two-person Jacuzzi which also doubles as a shower, wine in the afternoon, and a very good breakfast in the morning. It's just a few blocks from the Dana Thomas House (a Frank Lloyd Wright), the stately Capitol building, and a very short drive to the impressive Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

While the room itself was sparkling clean, the porch could have used a bit of work to clean up the furniture before we arrived. We took a look at all the other rooms -- we were the only guests that night -- and they were all very attractive and tastefully furnished.

We like to walk in the evenings and on a Sunday it's a bit hard to find a good restaurant open within walking distance. Otherwise, for the rest of the week, it sounds like there are a number of good restaurants nearby.

What an outstanding visit to Springfield! The Inn at 835 was a wonderful Inn to stay in. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was wonderful. We were needing some time away and the Lincoln Museum and Library was a great opportunity for such. The Inn at 835 was really just added at the last minute. However...the Inn was actually the highlight of the trip. The Rose Suite is decorated with such taste and the bathroom was pure delight. Romance made easy! The Inn served the best Egg's Benedict we have eaten to date. The intire atmosphere of the Inn added to a wonderful time in Mr. Lincoln's city. Having stayed in many B&B's throughout the years, this is one of our favorites and we will be delighted when we can return.

Well this was our 2nd time at the Inn and it will not be the last. My fiance went to a ton of work to take me away and I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Inn at 835 for our 2nd escape from reality. Our first stay was in the Hyacinth room and it was nice and I have a review on that stay which was wonderful. BUT we stayed in the Wysteria Suite out back of the Inn. He wanted us to have a fire place and our old room was booked but we LOVED the suite. It was so warm and cozy. The jacuzzi tub is so relaxing and bigger we thought. We couldnt find any matches to light the candles but we dimmed the lights and made a very relaxing time of it. Will go again and stay in the Inn next time so we don't have to go outside to get in to the Inn. But it was a lovely experience once again and we look forward to returning and enjoying another room. Oh and the breakfast was made fresh for us and they made the BEST french toast I have ever had! I loved the coffee too!
Oh and we read about the alleged haunting but we walked around the whole Inn and never saw or heard anything nor did we before. Perhaps we are not afraid so they dont bother us. It is too beautiful for that to keep anybody away.
