I stayed at the hotel for business for one night. The building is old, but the rooms have been remodeled and were nice. It was evident by looking at the tub that it was an old property, but everything worked fine and the bed was very comfortable. It has heat/air with a thermostat - not a window unit - which is always a plus to me. They provided us a drink coupon that could be used all night at the bar in the hotel.

We had lunch catered and it was very good. The staff seemed very nice and I had not complaints, nor did any of the others that stayed with me.

!Wonderful hotel. I was in Springfield as my daughter was a patient at Memorial for two weeks. The best hotel in downtown Springfield is The State House. The rooms are modern, the beds are comfortable and the staff was nice. My room was also quiet. The rates were also the best. I didn't have any problems with this hotel. I highly recommend it. Unfortunately I had booked a room at the Hilton in downtown Springfield a few nights before her scheduled surgery. To make a long story short I didn't like the Hilton, their rates, their rooms or their staff, so I tried several hotels in the downtown Springfield area before finding The State House. I really wish I would have tried The State House first it would have saved me a lot of stress. The Hilton lost my car one day after parking it in valet. Please tell me how that happens? It was very frustrating considering I was in a hurry to get to the hospital. I will never stay there again. All of the hotels I tried were very outdated, beds were very uncomfortable, and room/hotel was very noisy. It is very depressing to stay in a hotel that is dark and dreary and all the hotels I tried, except The State House, I found in that condition. Thanks State House

I thought this place was pretty decent. Not over the top splendid, but nice. And I did dig the hipster lobby and all the Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Rosemary Clooney piped in music. It was a pretty fun hotel, considering I never expect much from a Clarion. I thought it was very easy to find. And I felt safe parking my car in the lot overnight, since it is right across from the State Capitol. Unlike the other reviewer below me who thought 6-7 blocks from Lincoln sites was too far, I thought it was convenient. And I honestly don't think you could have found anything much closer. The staff was also very knowledgable with area attractions, food, and directions. I checked in late so did not have a chance to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast, but it did smell wonderful when I came to the lobby to check out. Overall, I thought the rooms were up-to-date and clean, but kinda small. But when you are only staying for a night or two, I don't think 'the 'small' part would be a problem. Personally, I would stay here again.

The hotel is bit of a hike from the major Lincoln attractions (5-7 blocks away), with smallish rooms, but, oh what a great place. The mid-century decor is fantastic and I don't know what kind of mattresses those beds had, but I want to order a set. Our family of four never slept better in a hotel. The fitness area, though again, smallish, was first class in every way. The breakfast out of this world. Located across from the Capitol building, the State House Inn operates with all the efficiency and quality of a first class business hotel (including fast internet and all business services on site) at an affordable price. The big chains closer to the Lincoln sites cost twice as much and provide half the service. Choose this one. You'll thank me.
