This hotel is by far the best in Springfield. While the outside is the original 1960's, the inside has been redone to have a wonderful contemporary art deco feel and a great eye for color and style. And the beds are fabulous- as is the excellent full breakfast. Two free drink tickets and a welcoming staff topped off a great weekend to see the Lincoln Museum and home as well as the Dana Lawrence house.

If you're staying in downtown Springfield this is a much better value than the other two hotels, the Hilton and the Abraham Lincoln. The rooms are on the small side (and wheelchair access might be an issue), but they have been extensively renovated and are far more appealing than the tired, worn out rooms in the other two hotels. A full breakfast (not just pastries) is included. It's convenient to the train and walking distance to everything in town. Unless you have to stay somewhere else, this is your best bet downtown.

We had a great one-night stay here when we went for the weekend to check out the sites. We arrived before noon, but were able to check in right away and were very pleased with our room. Very comfortable beds, and very clean with a huge picture window and nice bathroom. We received free drink tickets, and also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast wich had a wider variety of foods than the standard continental breakfast. We walked everywhere including the Lincoln library and museum, and homestead without any problems. Highly recommend this hotel.

I was in town for a business trip last week and stayed in the divine State House Inn in Springfield. The name of the hotel was misleading as I was prepared to walk into a stuffy political environment. However, I was most definitely surprised when I walked in the lobby!!! It was immaculate and inviting. The decor instantly evoked memories of my crazy mod days, but also gave a new definition of class. The superb lounge was welcome when I wanted to unwind after my days of meetings. The food impeccable....Highly unexpected for Springfield, IL. Since I'm such a light sleeper I was overjoyed to find the beds as comfortable as I've ever slept in. I tend not to get much rest on the road, but that wasn't the case here. The staff was most helpful, yet not intrusive. As a constant business traveller I feel more qualified than most to assess hotels and while I never take the time to post a complaint on hotel websites, I had to thank the wonderful staff at The State House Inn by giving them my highest compliments on theirs. Fab, Fab, Fab!!!
