We stayed here as part of a tour package and liked the way the hotel looked from the outside and found the lobby quite attractive. Out room was bigger than most we'd seen in Iceland and the beds your average two twins pushed together to make a full bed. The duvets are nice.

The bathroom has a door in it that leads to an outside patio and as typical with many European bathrooms, expect to flood it while showering. The provide a big squeegee mop for this purpose (wouldn't it be better to make a proper shower?!). If you like bar soap, bring your own as this hotel only provides liquid soap dispensers in the shower and by the sink.

We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and were not impressed. My husband and I cannot eat fish for health reasons and the restaurant staff substituted a horrible vegetarian curry patty for the cod meal the other guests got. The breakfast was a little on the thin side and nothing hot was provided except coffee and tea.

Free internet access can be had in the lobby area and a grocery store and restaurants are directly across the street.

This hotel is a 30 min drive from Geysir and Gulfoss. Rooms are ok, good size and good beds. The bathroom is a bit small and outdated but everything is clean. The hotel has free wireless internet in the lobby. Upon arrival the lady of the hotel gave us a map and pointed out all the good sights in the area. Diner at the hotel was very good. View from the diningroom is nice. Breakfast is basic.

Stayed here for one night and found the hotel to be basic but very clean and staff very helpful. There is no pool at this hotel but ask at reception for directions to the local pool and jacuzzi which is only a few minutes walk away - amazing to be swimming or in the jacuzzi with snow falling!

Icelandic Chalet Hotel - With Excellent Restaurant

The Fluðir Hotel well positioned for the Golden Circle being only 10-15 minutes drive from Gullfoss and Geysir. There is a 24 hour automated petrol station opposite so it also serves as a useful refuelling stop as well.

The hotel rooms are chalet like in style, but well furnished & modern with an unusually large choice of home UK channels (BBC1 & ITV1) on the room TV. Quite how many people get to sit outside in the sun in Iceland is questionable, but it was an aspirational idea.
Bathrooms were well fitted but strangely designed with a door outside right next to the shower. It was locked!

The restaurant in the main motel was very good.
Reasonable (for Iceland) prices, an inviting menu that was well served, and some good quality wine. It did tend to cater for large parties in the area, so choose your moment for going in there.

In summary, an excellent choice & the best I stayed at in Iceland.
As long as you are not put off by the chalet style I’d recommend staying here to tour the Golden Circle and surrounding area as an alternative to the more touristy Reykjavík.

We stayed here for one night during a self-drive loop around the "Golden Circle". For that purpose, it's an OK kind of place. The location is good, the little village being on a major junction, and the hotel was easy to find. Reception was as cool and aloof as you come to expect in Iceland. There's no need to take offence, but it's hard not to consider it unwelcoming.

The rooms are clean and well presented, although the double bed was two singles pushed together. This seems to be the norm in Iceland - we never saw a double bed in the whole time we were there.

The room was a decent size, and the bathroom was just about acceptable. Both were acceptably clean and modern. As usual for Iceland, the bathroom had nowhere to put anything. Once you've put your toothbrush down on the little glass shelf anything else has to go on the floor. The shower had one of those nasty billowing shower curtains instead of a decent glass door, but other than that it was OK.

The room was badly ventilated with just a little window to open. Despite the high ceiling it soon became uncomfortable stuffy and we had to open the outside door to the bathroom to let the air move around. (Curiously, the back wall of the bathrooms each have a door to the outside courtyard. I guess it helps cleaning or something). Obviously you can't leave a door open overnight, so the lack of ventilation was actually quite a problem.

The rooms are laid out room-bathroom-room-bathroom... which means, as someone else said, you can hear people next door in the bathroom. The plus side is that you can't generally hear them or their TV because the bathrooms insulate the rooms from each other. Noise wasn't really a problem for us.

We had breakfast here and that was the standard Iceland breakfast described by someone else. It filled a gap without being anything great.

Would I stay here again? Probably. There frequently aren't many choices in these little out-of-the-way places in Iceland and those that are are rarely as nice as this. As an overnight stop on a road trip it's fine; if you're thinking of staying several days for any reason then you should be aware there's nothing to do in the hotel or village, so I'd suggest basing yourself somewhere else.
