This was a Karen Brown recommendation, and we had high expectations. Stayed here for 2 nights during a HOT July week, and our first impression was quite positive - the air conditioning worked very well! We were in Room 5, which has it's own entrance from the street. The room was nicely and tastefully appointed, although there were a number of little things that could have made the experience better:
(1) The lock on the ground floor, street-facing window was broken, making us feel slightly insecure (I've lived in Cambridge!)
(2) There was no bathroom vent - unusual these days.
(3) The single overhead lamp in the bathroom was not sufficient.
(4) A nice large king bed, but only one side table. I would have traded for a queen bed and two tables.
(5) A little kitchenette, but not even a tea cup or glass! Just a bare fridge and little sink.
(6) Marginal noise insulation between adjoining rooms. We had a (locked) connecting door with a room behind us, and could clearly hear every word spoken in the room.
On the other hand, the service was good, especially the breakfast, which was excellent and quickly serviced.
Overall, it was nice, but I expected more for over $240/night, having just come from a suite hotel in the same general area costing $139/night. Perhaps the other rooms represent a better value.
