This is an average hotel but with some attention to detail would have gotten a better rating from me. The common areas (elevator, lobbies, etc) need to be monitored more closely for cleanliness - the elevator for example was somewhat trashy and the elevator doors unattractively buffed to cover up what I think were heavy scatches. When we were here, there were a lot of construction type personnel using the hotel and I suspect many of the things I mentioned are related, i.e., heavy boots, tools, etc.. Anyhow, not a good first impression, but more the reason to be more attentive. Thought the reception desk personnel were exceptional and I felt welcomed.

The room was good and clean with the air conditioning working properly. However, the divided wash basin and toilet/shower room is a problem for someone trying not to disturb a sleeping partner. The toilet light/vent is very noisy and again not great for someone trying not to disburb a sleeping partner. Hotel should modify this and provide two switches , i.e., one for a light and one for the vent. The breakfast room was spacious and the breakfast itself was above average in selection.

The hotel is alright to get into and get out of if traffic is light but a problem at work quitting time. There is a terrific Bar b Que resturant (for those like me who love the stuff) called Famous Dave about two blocks away - ate there twice, lunch and dinner.

Left my wallet behind by mistake and $40 cash was missing upon my return 6 hrs later.

Outsided key pass doors (each on opposite end of hall ways) were jammed open and obviously did not require your room card to enter. A third door near the main desk (between to glass doors) was not to provide access to the public was abled to be opened easily.

My mistake leaving my wallet. Insurance claim was denied. I asked if the attendent would be cleaning my room again, and they assured me that person would not be. I assume they would be cleaning someone elses.

Security not very important to staff much less my service.

I did talk to the manager who was only there on Saturday 9-12pm.

Guest stated that $40.00 was missing from his room. An incident report was filled out and was reported to our insurance. We also conducted a inhouse investigation including a room lock evaluation and found nothing out of the ordinary. The housekeeper that cleaned the room was questioned regarding the incident. She has been a valued member of our staff for over a year, and has never had a complaint of this kind. Upon review by the insurance company the claim was denied.

“Terrible Hotel”

I booked this room at a very low rate through Hotwire and was very dissapointed even for the low rate I received. This property is in dire need of rennovation. The rooms are extremely small, dark and dirty. The hallways smell badly, the carpets are worn, wallpaper aged. My pillowcases had stains. I had no hot water for 2 days. The TV in my room had a distorted picture and the picture color was yellow. There was no Nicklodean channel for the kids to watch cartoons. The bathrooms were so small you could barely change your clothes in it. The sink dripped all the time and there was a stain underneath it on the carpet so I know it had been leaking. When I left I felt like I had been camping for 2 days because of the poor conditions.

I stayed four nights here, and I don't really have any complaints. I'm surprised that other reviewers have had such bad reports about their stays. The girl who checked me in was new and made an error processing my payment, but the manager caught the mistake and corrected it quickly. Other than that, I didn't run into a hitch. The staff was friendly, professional, and happy to help whenever I had questions or requests. The room was clean and comfortable, and I never had a problem getting fresh linens (although, if you're staying more than one night and if you want new bedsheets between your first and third nights, you may have to ask for them). The complimentary breakfast was good, and the hotel is close to lots of restaurants, among other things. When I stayed, it was quiet virtually all the time. Coffee and water were available in the lobby all day (although I don't know how fresh the coffee was in the afternoon and evening, since I didn't try it then). Of course, the hotel isn't the most upscale one in the area, but it's been renovated and is in decent shape. All in all, my stay was quite pleasant.

I have stayed at this location three times, for a week each. It is booked by my employer, so I don't have a choice of where to stay in Richmond, but if I did have a choice I would NEVER stay here. The bathrooms are dirty, there is mildew around the drain and on the shower curtain and hairs and stains on the towels. The first week I stayed here I actually drove back to Washinton, DC one night to sleep at home, because the mold had actually made me sick with sinus congestion and a sore throat.

The second week was in November. This time I got scabies from the infested bed linens. Do you know what scabies are? They are mites that burrow into your skin and lay eggs. You have to get a prescription pesticide cream that you slather on your entire body and sleep in in order to kill them.

I had to stay here one other time, in February, and brought my own sheet and towels. Luckily this place is under renovation. I will never stay here again until renovations are complete.
