Quite an interesting museum, and an easy walk from the Museum of the Conferdacy, so the two of them would make a nice 'museum morning.'
Lots of dispays on local history, (photos, artifacts, ads, etc.) and a few surprises. (A fascinating display, in the basement, about the Red Cross. Not sure if it's a temporary exhibit, or permanent.) I was especially hoping to see the textile exhibits (heavily promoted in all the literature), but I couldn't find them. Portions of the museum are closed, so that could have been the problem.
Your ticket includes a few other smaller local musuems, including the house next door, but those are by tour only, so we didn't have time. (However, the basement of the 'house next door' is connected directly to the Valentine, so you can walk through it and see the servants quarters. A very well done little exhibit.
BTW, if you are a AAA member, be sure to tell them. The discount is terrific. (And I didn't even have to show my card.)
Recommended.
