My wife and I stayed two delightful nights at the Grace Manor Inn. We felt right at home from the start, welcomed with homemade chocolate chip cookies and wine and cheese. Every room of the house is decorated with turn-of-the-century elegance. The young owners, Albert and Dawn, are very attentive. The three-course breakfasts, made by Dawn with fresh herbs from the Inn's herb garden, were unforgettably scrumptious.

We stayed in the two-room Shortt Suite and highly recommend it. While it has the smallest bathroom of all the suites, the rooms were gorgeous, spacious and cozy and we were torn between hanging out on one of the house's porches to enjoy the summer breeze or retiring to our sitting room to relax on the overstuffed couch and watch the John Adams series on DVD (which we had brought with us). We did both and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

    • Liked — The rooms were gorgeous. Even thought the furniture was antique, it was very comfortable (lots of overstuffed couches and chairs).
    • Disliked — Breakfast is served a bit late for my tastes (9am). I would offer more flexible options for guests (like, anytime between 7:30 and 9am).

For our anniverary, my husband surprised me with a visit to this inn located just a few miles from our home. I was transported to another place and time in this beautiful home. The furnishings and style take you back to the early 1900s, and yet we had all the modern amenities including an internet connection with computer right outside our rooms.

We had a lovely, large suite with great furnishings. There were books and magazines everywhere...no need to have your own reading material here.

The best part was the breakfasts which were truly superior. We are already trying to imitate Dawn's wonderful recipes.

The innkeepers were wonderful hosts yet we had plenty of privacy. We especially enjoyed our lovely porch overlooking Grace St. It was perfect for an afterdinner drink and morning coffee.

All in all a great trip and we'll recommend the inn to everyone.

“Two Thumbs Up”

Grace Manor Inn

I had the pleasure of staying in the Grace Manor Inn B&B and the room was great. The owners have decorated keeping the look and feel of the time in mind but included the appropriate modern ammenities available. Our room was comfortable with a spacious sitting room.

The real hidden treasure of the experience was the gourmet breakfast served in three courses (a Grace Manor tradition). We started off with fresh watermellon served in a martini glass with a drizzle of lime, refreshing start to the day and just wonderful. As Albert said "Everything taste better in a martini glass". Our second course featured grilled Italian bread topped with Dawn's personal marinara sauce, layered with a lightly fried egg sprinkled with pancetta and parmesan reggiano (Yum!!!). Our final dish was fresh strawberries with a French lemon cream for dipping. It was incredible.

I know most reviews on B&Bs speak to the accomodations which were extremely beautiful, with great sitting rooms, garden and private parking. I just had to express my delight in the presentation (gold pates, and exquisite service by Albert himself)
and the quality of the meal.

I feel Albert and Dawn are really focused on providing the highest quality experience and it really shows.

Our weekend stay at Grace Manor Inn was delightful in every way. We enjoyed our two room suite so much that we felt we could move in. Our friends stayed across the hall, at the only other suite on our floor, so it was perfect for our weekend visit to Richmond. The rooms are beautifully decorated (with very comfortable beds), the breakfasts were simply delicious, and our hosts - Albert & Dawn - were charming and very helpful. Added bonuses are the Inn's location in the Fan District and off-street parking. We plan to make another visit to Richmond just to stay at Grace Manor.

My daughter had planned to have her wedding at The Grace Manor Inn. We signed the contract one year before the wedding and made all the plans for a wonderful occasion. FOUR months before the date of the wedding the owners requested that we not apply for a banquet permit. Evidently they were having some trouble with the ABC and did not want to draw further attention to themselves.
I can not describe the stress, worry and needless pain this put my family through. My daughters well planned wedding gone up in smoke without a note of concern from the owners; and no offer made to help resolve the situation.
As it was impossible to book another location at such a late date my daughter had to change the date of her wedding and incur greater cost. And most importantly she experienced undue stress on an otherwise joyful occasion.
