We stayed for one night at the Best Western Governor's Inn, while attending a Rubik's Cube Tournament at the hotel. When I saw that it was located directly behind a carwash, my expectations were not very high. At it did not disappoint -- it was mediocre at best.

This hotel is exactly what you would expect for this price in this location. Rooms are adequately sized and cheaply furnished. Bathrooms are reasonably clean, with cheap plumbing and fixtures. The walls are ridiculously thin, you can hear everything going on next door. There were probably 25 people staying in the entire hotel, but it felt like Grand Central because you could hear everything on either side of you. The worst of modern hotel construction.

Hotel staff was polite and helpful, breakfast was adequate.

If I had a choice, I would not stay at this hotel.

We booked a non-smoking room with a king bed. We got to the hotel and there was no non-smoking room. They were fully booked because they had a lightening-strike fire previously so one building was unusable. The staff was wonderfully helpful and apologetic and did everything they could to clear the smell of smoke out of the room they assigned us.

The room was very large, but dingy and not very clean. Later we disovered that it was worse than that. When we pulled back the sheets, they were dirty, there was hair on some of them, they clearly had not been changed. The mattress covers were disgusting. We found a cigarette butt on the floor near the bed. The lovely, young front desk clerk searched for fresh sheets and found there were none to fit the bed so he brought us two sets of double sheets to try to cover the bed so we could sleep the night. We were not going to try to find another motel for the one night we were there so slept fitfully and prayed that there were no bedbugs.

It is a shame that this hotel has been so poorly kept since the staff (not housekeeping and management) is so unusually decent and helpful.

“Horrible for the business traveler”

Stayed here for a business trip and was disapointed with the lack of amenities. The website states a bar and grill on site which was chained at the door. After an inquiry to when it would be open, was met with a hostile answer that it has been closed since the new year.
Rooms were dirty and smelled awful. Watch for what houskeeping calls putting fresh sheets on the bed. After a night of sleep and a scab on my knee coming open, there was a speck of dried blood. The next day the speck of blood was in the opposite corner of the bed.
The front desk was rude and unhelpful.

I stayed there for a weekend with my wife and kids for a family reunion we were attending. Needless to say we had a great stay. The property was located near lots of restaurants and shopping. Also the room size was pretty spacious which helps when you're traveling with kids. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and had some good suggestions for local activities whenever we had some downtime. I would definetely recomend this place and stay here again.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Came in early evening on a cold rainy night. Night person reluctantly moved us across the hall due to teenagers banging on the walls of the stairs. When returning from dinner, our bed was mysteriously drenched to the mattress in one large spot. Night clerk refused to bring us another mattress and actually laughed about it. She refused to contact management for us (said there was no contact #). We told the clerk that we would put linens in hallway and to bring us fresh ones as we would flip over the mattress. When we flipped over the mattress, we saw what appeared to us to be dried feces and also urine stains on mattress corner and along one side quite a ways. Since the night person was no help, we called the Best Western headquarters and received no resolve that night. There was no way we were going to stay there. The night clerk finally brought linens as we were packing to leave. We showed her the disgusting mattress with no response. Since leaving Virginia there has been some contact with Best Western due to our efforts. They have denied the 'feces' stain stating that 'it's just a burn' but I've never seen a burn look like that. The only compensation we've been offered (after we argued for it) is a BW debit card for under $100 to reimburse for the competitor's room that we went to on that late cold rainy night . If staying there, check your mattress before you sleep!
