We had a wonderful, restful stay at the Woodstocker last weekend. We had been years before under different management. We loved it the first time, but Dora and David have transformed the Woodstocker into an oasis of European chic in the midst of Woodstock. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were very warmly greeted. D and D stike the perfect balance of warmth, providing excellent conversation and hospitality, but knowing when you desire peace and privacy. They thoughtfully provide slippers for guests, so there is no worry of trekking in puddles brought in from the snow. The rooms are lushly appointed with flat screen tvs, a selection of great CDs/and DVDs are available as well as loads of books in the beautiful library.
Robes are provided as well as green products in the bathrooms (they are commited to being a green B and B).
We stayed in one of the more traditional rooms (which we loved!) but got to see some of the showstopping rooms that come with AMAZING light-up bathtubs (check out the pics on the website).
The colors and decor of the inn are equally bold and sophisticated as well as restful. There is a sense of humor and whimsy in the decor that is a welcome change from the chintz/Victorian standard of most B and Bs.
Equally great is the spare kitchen off the library where one can help themselves to 24-hour coffee, tea, and snacks...yum! They will also galdly make any dinner reservations for you, if need be.
And finally, a word about the breakfast. Delicious! Organic granola, fruit, and yogurt...bagels, breads, jams and juices along with a cooked to order hot breakfast. The eggs were scrumptious and accompanied by some of the best sausage I have ever eaten!
All in all, we had a restful, romantic weekend. We would return to the Woodstocker in a heartbeat!
