We're an early 50's DINK couple, upper middle-class frequent travelers with tastes ranging from Broadway to Wal-Mart... sushi to McDonalds.. but with little tolerance for the grossly tattooed/pierced, profane (if loud) smokers of the world. We're not puritans or prudes (go Kathy Griffin/Chris Rock!).. we're just real people who can, at this point in our lives, usually buy our way out of steerage if absolutely necessary.

That said, we love to find a metro area base camp whose "musts" are 1) safety, 2) cleanliness, 3) vicinity and 4) value, then trek all day and night. This hotel meets all those requirements and is an easy walk to everything!). Having stayed in many 4&5 star properties while on business, this one holds its own and is quiet everywhere to boot. The lobby is small but both it and the elevators have a very nice, elegant ambiance. Staff is very professional, uniformed, soft-spoken, attentive and courteous. I mention parking only as it is so very different, but not a detriment... you have to pull up into simply a street side parking space (on Forsythe St. NW heading NE) for (one) valet. Never a long wait though. Breakfast is GREAT but gets crowded so go early.

One word of caution.. and we are NOT skiddish travelers.. avoid Underground Atlanta.. even during the day. I am from the South.. all my life.. know it well.. and it saddens me that Atlantians have attempted but failed to remove the nare-do-wells from such a otherwise lovely historic venue. Forget the downtown metro (MARTA) caves as well. Recommend Giuliani ;} for these areas but hotel and surrondings are two thumbs up!!

My wife and I were to attend a convention in downtown atlanta where we usually stay at the Marriott Marquis. It was full. we looked for alternate hotels and found the Residence Inn at $99 per night for 3 nights. It was very clean, quiet, and everyone was helpful. It is what alot of people call a boutique style hotel. They fed us as good a breakfast as I've had. room had kitchenette, was smallish, but very stylish and comfortable. Would use this hotel again. No pool however if that is important to you. It is just out the escalator of the MARTA subway.

Booked 3 rooms at this hotel for Chick' fil' a bowl game on New Years Eve. We arrived early, 11am, not expecting to be able to check-in, especially with 3 rooms, however our rooms were ready and had quick and easy check-in. Since this was New Years Eve, bowl game and concert in town, we thought it would be impossible to get all 3 rooms on the same floor. We got better than that as they were all next to each other. I had requested a roll-away bed in 1 room and it was waiting on us. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, with full refrigerator, pull-out sofa in some of the rooms.
The marta station is right across from the hotel, so we rode it to Lenox Square, which took about 15 minutes. We had planned on taking the Marta to the Georgia Dome, however, after walking to the Dome we realized it was probably just as quick to walk and the streets were crowded so we felt totally safe.
The staff at the hotel was outstanding and we will definitely stay there again if we are in Atlanta.

I have been coming to downtown Atlanta for business 4-6x/year for the last 4 years. I always stay with my management group but this time I decided to venture out on my own. I could not be more pleased with the Residence Inn. Everyone was courteous, the security is friendly and attentive, the room was well appointed, and I have the freedom to eat in my room and be provided a very full course breakfast. At this point, I plan on staying here most times I return to Atlanta.
