It was lovely holidays but few thinks about hotel we don't like :

People are smoking beside swimming pool , sometimes we was between two couples smoking with our Daughter .

People are smoking cigarettes during meals when having meal on terrace.
We can't enjoy meal on terrace if people are smoking .

All animations in theathre are in Spanish - I know it's o lot of quests from Spain .... But

Food it's just average .

We know how to enjoy ourself and even this problems didn't destroy our stay and we like swimming pools and swimming pools are not overcrowded - it's big plus - middle of August when hotel it's full was ok .

Nice view from hotel.
Almunecar it's not pleace when I will comeback again .

The hotel is at the end of Almunecar, the town which is difficult to say as interesting or beautiful (with its hotels built in seventies). Playa Calida is the modern hotel with an interesting construction. The hall is very big with interesting construction of lifts. There are two swimming pools: for kids a river inside the hotel and the other outside close to see (with an interesting construction presented on pictures), as well as SPA complex (we don’t use it). Rooms are large with balcony, bathroom has shower and bath. We have been at the beginning of June so the hotel was partially filled, the restaurants were not crowded (although it was difficult to find a free table at the terrace). It was self-service in the restaurant as usually in most hotels. The menu was very rich – I liked beef steaks, shrimps, and clams (all well prepared). We have taken half board with a free choice to take lunch or dinner – what was very comfortable when we made excursions or stayed at the beach. I have read complains on tripadivsor about the hotel but I can’t confirm them: about monotony in the menu, ants and dirties in my room, the staff was OK.

I could recommend this hotel with a clear conscience, if only the food had been better. I’m not choosy about cooking, but for the first time for several years now I had to eat so bad-tasting meals (it refers to lunches and dinners). Although we came immediately after opening the restaurant, some meals were almost cold and on the top of some of them a disgusting “skin” could be found, or they were being prepared while people were standing in a long queue waiting for finishing. And the taste of these meals was hopeless, they were simply tasteless. Taking cutlery or plates one should have checked them carefully – they were dirty. I think that in the four-star hotel the lack of butter or lemon shouldn’t occur. The quality of cooking in this hotel is best proven by the fact that after coming back home my son said that my dinner was delicious (and I’m not a masterchef).
Fortunately I only once asked for a lunch-packet. There were an apple, a peach, a little bottle of water, 3 (three) little snacks, one breadroll with a slice of cheese and a tiny box of margarine – I wondered how to spread it without cutlery, perhaps using a fingertips?
The interior of the hotel (on the ground floor near the reception) is very spacious and a little darken – the windows with colourful glass-panel are placed rather high and the sunshine illuminates the lobby pleasingly to the eye. And next to the main entrance (on the right side standing face to it) there is a huge cage with parrots – one can stand and stare at them and time goes by unnoticeably.
As for the room we were very satisfied. The room was on the first floor with the side view of the sea (in the westerly direction), but in my opinion it was better than front view because we could admire a little bay with beach, a slope with cypresses and vine (apartment buildings in the distance were the worst thing). The terrace was big and shadow, equipped with a table and two chairs – an excellent place to sit and read a book or simply meditate (if only tourists weren’t too noisy playing mini-golf).
In the room there were two big beds, two bedside tables, a bigger table under the mirror, a fridge, a 32’ TV set, an individual air-conditioning and a fan as well. The bathroom was also big: there were a shower, a bath, a toilet with a bidet, two hand towels, two bath towels and a miniature set consisting of soaps, shampoo, shower gel for two persons and a bathing-cap.
But it would be wonderful if the walls between rooms weren’t so thin – every word was heard from the rooms beside. Another problem was with a key-card: it had to be shown entering the restaurant and each time when one wanted to take a drink or coffee in the pool-bar or reception-restaurant (although an all-inclusive option was paid).
The hotel has an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, two jacuzzi (outdoor and indoor) and something special mainly for children: river with slides. The panoramic swimming pool with view towards the bay and little town Almunecar is admirable. It’s a pity that the majority of deckchairs by the swimming pools are in terrible conditions – a beach towel is absolutely necessary if you don’t want to lie on dirty or covered with bird’s excrement material. It’s shocking that the hotel holding 4 stars offers such disgusting conditions. On the other side I must praise the management for the quantity of deckchairs, there were a great number of them.
If you want to visit Almunecar, the best way is to go by bus (a ticket costs 1 EUR); of course one can go on foot, but the passage takes 1 hour at a fast pace. Coming back to the hotel you’d rather get on the bus in the centre of the city (nearby the bus station) than on the sea front or even in Avenida Juan Carlos I; there are so many people (inhabitants and tourists) willing to get on the bus that on those later stops there are no possibility to get in because the bus can be overcrowded.

PS. Many thanks for the kindness of reception staff when I was struck by misfortune during my trip to Granada. I’m infinitely grateful to some participants of a/m trip for their disinterested help and care – thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Room tip: The rooms towards the west have a splendid view on the bay, but they are noisy because of mini-golf (all the rooms have very thin walls, so you can hear everything what your neighbour says or makes).

great for families, but the food was boring. Good service, though. Especially from the manager whom speaks English very well.
We had a cornersuite on the fifth floor because the room we had booked wasn´t available. It was great, with a big terrace and our own pool...

Room tip: choose a room towards the sea, and on the 1st floor up. Fifth floor is great.

Ok where to start?
This was a family holiday so we could visit my wifes family and my daughter could see her Abuela and Abeulo
The hotel is situated on a remote rocky outcropping in Almunecar. Which is a quiet town about 80 km away from anywhere. On approach the hotel looks impressive, a large Moorish style edifice overlooking a gravelly beach. Inside is more of the same architecture and design.
The swimming pools look great with an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, that's where the greatness ends.
The pools are in such disrepair that walking on the bottom puts you at risk of slicing your feet on the many, many broken tiles. So much so that the children were making a game (assisted by the life-guard) of diving to the bottom to find the tiles, I watched for half an hour to see them fill three large cups. This is in addition to the general detritus that is floating around in each pool everyday.
Rooms; As the title suggests, Ants are everywhere and the staff don't seem to pushed to deal with them. We had to move from our first room due to a nest of ants and the receptionist said "when you have moved could you bring the key back immediately as we need the room"
There are over 500 rooms and 4 cleaning staff (they cover the entire hotel not just the rooms) so getting your room cleaned is like the lottery.
Food; I don't expect fine cuisine when coming to a place like this but it should be edible (slight exaggeration) The food consists of cheap ingredients hastily prepared. Check that your food is cooked through before taking a bite as it is often only cooked on one side ( no exaggeration).
Staff: the waiting staff in the restaurant and at breakfast are friendly, quick and efficient. Always smiling, quick with a joke and eager to help, they are the exception.
The reception is staffed by arrogant malcontents that have no interest in providing a decent or even friendly service. Requests are either ignored or met with a disinterested shrug of the shoulders. The bar staff are likewise, arrogant, unhelpful and unfriendly.
It would seem this place is on its way out. Staffed by a skeleton crew of overworked and put upon locals who are not given enough to keep the hotel running properly.
We don't have a lot of money to spend on luxuries like a holiday, so when we do manage to get away we don't set our expectations high but this place was awful.

Room tip: Eat out. Bring ant powder.
