My husband and I visited Natchez in the second week in December. We were visiting family in Baton Rouge and drove to Natchez for an overnight visit. I called the Wensel House the day before to reserve a room. It is located in a historic neighborhood that is good for walking and viewing lovely old historic homes and only about two or so blocks to the main part of town. We never used our car the whole two days in Natchez, we even walked to the visitor center too. The owner was very nice and laid back about her check in and check out rules telling us to call her from the front porch house phone when we arrived and she came a few minutes later to let us in the house. We arrived about 11:45am. We had the First Room. It was a lovely, open, bright room with large windows. My first impression was how simple the room was furnished. Not your typical fru-fru b and b room. It was not cluttered with nick-nacks, wall hangings or piles of show pillows on the bed. I liked that. Spacious bathroom with tub-shower and two closets that had extra bed pillows. There is a small tv in the room although we did not even turn it on. The breakfast was huge...pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, fresh fruit salad, biscuits, ....all delicious and seconds were available. There is a guest parlor to sit in and enjoy visiting or reading. After check out and loading up the car the owner let us keep our car parked at the house while we walked back into town until the late afternoon. Overall the stay was great. The room prices were very reasonable. Check out the website for more pictures and info.
