“Perfect Location and great accommodation - the reviews are right!”

Alpine Trail Ridge Inn

We stayed on two different occasions at the Alpine Trail Inn. I am very impressed with this motel – the rooms are very clean, beds are firmly comfortable, and the shower (flow) is good.

Both times we had queen size beds and didn’t have any problems with the size. I was impressed with their comfort as most motel beds have saggy middles.

What I didn’t like is that some of the parking is limited. Most of the units have parking outside the door and the convenience was great. There are about 4 rooms that do not have assigned parking spaces and, if the motel is sold out and it is near dinner or lunch hour, the approximately 8-10 spaces where the 4 units’ guests would typically park were taken by diners at the restaurant.

Ahh, the restaurant. . . excuse me while I reminisce for a moment. It was exceptional and I can’t say enough about the food. We went to a few restaurants in Estes Park and were disappointed in the food elsewhere but the on-site restaurant food was delicious, absolutely delicious. Don’t expect fancy, it is not gourmet and it is not a linen napkin restaurant but the food is homemade and freshly prepared with great recipes.

We stayed at the Alpine Trail Inn because it is #1 on Tripadvisor. The following day when we checked out of the motel, I found out why it is #1 – the managers/proprietors have posted a flyer with a shameless solicitation for positive comments on Tripadvisor. I thought it was very tacky, however, not too many hotel and motels can brag about their high standards and remain consistent on those standards. Actually, because of this, I was looking to be critical but have only one negative comment – just the parking situation. It really is a nice motel.

Regardless of the parking, you can’t go wrong with this motel. A previous commenter implied that the motel seemed too far from Estes Park. Actually, we loved the location of the motel. It seemed in the middle between Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park and was far enough away to avoid congestion.

My recommendation is that you skip the balcony rooms and ask for a large room with good parking. And definitely make reservations for dinner.

The Alpine Trail Ridge is nothing fancy, but it is clean, affordable, and wonderfully located (right near the entrance to the National Park). What stood out, however, was the hospitality of the folks at the front desk. They were friendly and eager to help with suggestions. Very good experience.

“Would stay here again!”

Alpine Trail Ridge Inn

Room was well maintained and very clean! We had a balcony room and would request it again the next we stayed. The staff was very friendly and you could tell they took pride in providing a nice experience for the guests. Location is nice for traveling into the Rocky Mountain National Park. Basic accomodations, nothing fancy.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be very clean and comfortable. Our room #104, had 2 queen size beds (the bed was a bit of a tight squeeze for me and my husband), a small table and chairs, TV, fridge (invaluable) and a good size bathroom with a shower cubicle (no bath).
As a previous reviewer said, our room also overlooked the carpark so we too had to keep the curtains closed making the room a little dark but we didn't spend much of the day there anyway so it didn't bother us too much.
Parking is outside your room which is a bonus.
We didn't try using the wifi but found the speed of the internet in reception to be adequate for checking email.
We ate breakfast at the Sundeck twice and found the portions to be good value for money. The food was fresh and well cooked. We didn't have an evening meal there but maybe we should have. Be warned Estes Park is not the culinary capitol of Colorado, we had some of the worse meals of our 3 week holiday here - especially avoid The Wild Rose and dinner at The Other Side (breakfast is good here though).
The motel is very well situated for the entrance to RMNP but is over a mile out of town. There are a few restaurants within walking distance but mostly you will find yourself driving into town and fighting it out with the masses for a parking space.

I would like to make one correction to this nice review. The two beds are double beds instead of queen beds, which is why they seemed a little cramped for them. This is our older building, and the rooms are smaller, so that there is simply not enough room to put in two queen beds, or even one double and one queen. Our other two buildings have all been upgraded to queens and kings.

It is a very good point about the drapes and the parking lot. We will research some options to help with this, such as some sheers which could let light in but make it more private. I realize that in looking back at other motels we have stayed in, that is what they have done.

I'm sorry they had some bad experiences with dining out at several of the area restaurants. As we get near the end of the summer, sometimes there are labor problems and new or not enough staff, and quality can suffer. I'd suggest checking with the Front Desk staff at any motel for recommendations for dining, because they usually know who is the most consistent. It's no guarantee, but it improves the odds.

“Excellent place to stay in Estes Park!”

We stayed at the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn at the beginning of our trip to the national parks in Colorado and Wyoming and enjoyed the experience so much, we returned again at the end of our trip. The motel rooms are spotless with all the amenities, including liquid soap and a nightlight in the bathroom. The beautiful mountain view in the morning as you walk out of your room is a wonderful start to the day. There is a small road behind the motel with very little traffic that is perfect for morning walks or jogs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a very lovely and reasonable place to stay in a beautiful resort town.
