Absolutely enjoyable! How much better to describe our weekend away at A Mountain Valley Home with Lynn, Paul and Kyle? I wasn’t going to bother with writing our review, since it will just be more of the same raves and compliments that they have already received, but I might as well put my 2 cents online along with the rest of the 5 star ratings.

My husband and I visited Estes Park this past weekend for the Scottish Festival. Originally, we were headed to Scotland for our wedding anniversary, however, since carpet and tile were also wanted, I settled for the Scottish Festival in Estes Park and how happy I am that we did! We could not have asked for a more pleasant and welcoming group of people to spend the weekend with (and we have been to several B&B’s – this one is the tops). Not to mention the fun & excitment it was seeing fellows walk around in kilts!!

Not only did Lynn guide us through the what and hows of the Festival, she invited us to join her group for a picnic before one of the Tattoos (and no, this had nothing to do with ink and needles!). We were the new comers, but never did we feel like it. We were welcomed and included in all of the fun activities.

I might as well start at the beginning of our stay; when we arrived Paul warmly welcomed us, told us that breakfast would be at 8:30am (inquiring of allergies, etc. and checking if that time was good for us, which it was) and that coffee would be ready at 7:30am. He then graciously walked us around the home, showing us how things worked (Jacuzzi spa, Select Comfort Bed, fans, fireplace, heaters, windows, lights, etc.), where the guest kitchen and drinks were located, and even went over a map of the area since we were not familiar with Estes Park. We asked about local restaurants and he was so willing to show us the many menus they had on hand and gave his recommendations. He did suggest making reservations for wherever we decided to go, since this weekend was going to be a crowded one.

Paul indicated that they would be happy to have a wine tasting upon request. Unfortunately we were did not get to enjoy their new tasting room (which is absolutely beautifully decorated), as we all (all of the guests) were so caught up in the Scottish Festival activities and events.

We took one of Paul’s recommendations and went to the Tavern, mostly due to them having live music. We were glad we made reservations because the place was indeed full to the brim. (The meal was excellent; I had the salmon and my husband had their pasta special).

The breakfasts were superb. We had fresh fruit (Colorado peaches, blackberries, raspberries, almonds, with a sweet dollop of heavenly cream) and fruit filled crapes with a side of bacon; French Toast topped with a maple pecan topping and sausage, and one of our very favorites was one of Paul’s creations (egg filled tomato on top of a bed of sausage/beef mixture) not sure what it was called, but let’s say my husband is still asking me if I could try to re-create it! Oh, I just have to mention this; Paul looks just like Johnny Carson (at least according to my hubby)! Every morning he would say, “Wasn’t breakfast with Johnny nice?” You’ll have to go see for yourselves and let us know if you think he looks like Johnny’s twin!

At breakfast we were able to talk and laugh with the other guests as we sat on the back veranda and enjoyed the hummingbirds and elk grazing in the yard. One morning there was a "six pointer" that was taking a sip of the front pond.... we all rushed to the front and snapped photos of this magnificent animal meandering along through the MVH front yard.

We stayed in the Bear’s Den room, which we both just loved. It is accessible with it’s own private outside stairway so we felt like we could come and go as late or early as we pleased. The room was decorated so perfectly with special little touches that just make all the difference. We loved the stuffed bears that top the bed – they make perfect mascots! There were candles, lighters, wine opener, extra blankets, and hangers, everything you could ask for.

There was a tv in our room, but we didn’t get to watch too much, although my husband did turn it on to catch sport scores and the weather. We were rather surprised that the tv had such good reception and not just the normal channels, it was cable. We did attempt to watch one of the many movies that they have available, but we ended up falling asleep.

I am truly sorry to have to tell you they are completely booked for next year’s Scottish Festival, but perhaps you can visit another time; I am confident you will have a most pleasant visit.

Lovely B&B

A Mountain Valley Home B&B Inn

We enjoyed our stay at Mountain Valley Home. The room was large and well furnished. The common areas were spacious and well equipped. Gourmet breakfast was served on the back patio and we saw deer in the adjoining property. The hosts gave us good suggestions for dinner at the Lodge south of town, where we enjoyed the live entertainment. They were very helpful and friendly in all respects.
The only peculiarity of the house is that the hosts' office/den is an open concept on the upstairs landing (ie outside the upstairs rooms). This layout made us feel that we were intruding in someone's home, although others may think it charming or friendly.
Altogether, a good place to stay in Estes Park.

We recently stayed for two nights at the Mountain Valley Inn and had a wonderful stay. We were welcomed with open arms onto the property and Lynn gave us lots of tips on getting around Estes Park. We stayed in the Valley View room, quite spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfasts both days were amazing! Unfortunately we didn't go to the wine tasting either night as planned because we were so wiped from hiking during the day. Overall it was a very nice place to stay and felt like we were staying with a good friend!

Staying at Mountain Valley Home made our trip to Estes Park absolutely unforgettable. The conversations and laughs with our hosts and the other guests made us feel so at home and comfortable. The gourmet breakfasts are delicious and served on the veranda on warm mornings (sometimes you can even get seconds!)

The location is perfect; it is set in a residential neighborhood so there isn't that "resort" feel to it. Yet it is a two minute drive from the downtown Estes Park area and about five minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park entrance.

They have wine tastings and a wide assortment of games and movies. One of my favorite things were the bed linens - the softest sheets I have ever slept on. My husband even looked at the tag to see from what material it was made so we can get something like it for ourselves. Needless to say, the rooms and the rest of the house are beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. I can attest that other B&B's are not always so.

All in all, we couldn't have found a better, more inviting place to stay. We feel like we've made new friends and that's why we'll be visiting again.

  • Liked — Our hosts, the food, beds, wine, jacuzzi, veranda (this answer wasn't supposed to be just one thing, was it?)

When my husband and I decided to go away from home to get married, we looked online and made several phone calls to b&b's in the area. Lynn spent time with me on the phone giving me great customer service. Her and Paul could handle our wedding and our stay and make things very easy on us. There website was fantastic and we were able to pick our which room we wanted. There was constant contact between Lynn and myself about the wedding details and she gave me suggestions and advice to make things easy on me. Our three night stay at the b&b was fantastic. Our room and the rest of the Inn was clean and neat. I never worried about walking around barefoot or using the tub or shower like at some hotels. Our wedding day was perfect, no time pressure. They froze in the snow with us to take pictures and make our day special. Every breakfast Paul made was thoughtful and tasted great! He had great food presentation and served generous portions. Our bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Every suggestion by Paul or Lynn for a resturant or place to have fun at was very good. Travis and I would highly recommend A Mountain Valley Inn for vacation, wedding, weekend away for anyone. I can not think of a single thing to complain about.
